“Fine Stay; Friendly Staff - Great for starwood points”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

my husband and I stayed here for 2 nights on the 3rd stop of our trip to Asia in August, 2013. We used starwood points for the 2-night stay which made it perfectly fine. we obviously didn't spend much time here as we were so limited in Siem Reap (which we LOVED overall), so below please find a summary of the key points.

Location - Closest to the airport/angkor wat and about a 5 minute ride via tuk tuk to pub street. The cost to/from was $2 - although the drivers will try and charge more.

Lobby/Breakfast - Both lovely, plenty of options at breakfast but a steep price of appx. $16 each. Considering everything else is so cheap in Siem Reap (i.e. $5 hour massages, $1 beer, etc.) this was pricey but had a nice selection.

Room - Could use an upgrade....hard beds, old TVs.. but overall was very clean and the bathroom was nice. Again, we didn't spend much time in the room so it was a perfectly fine and free stay as we used points. A note if traveling during the hotter months - the power tends to go on/off at night when everyone is back running their AC. We didn't mind this as it added to the "ambience" so to speak.

Grounds - We didn't use the pool but the view was nice from our room.

Staff - The staff were lovely - front desk, bell staff, housekeeping, breakfast, etc. So nice and eager to help.

Overall - This was not the best of any starwood property we stayed at during our stay, but was perfectly fine as a base to see the AMAZING Angkor Wat and city of Siem Reap. We are so glad we visited here, the people, sights, food, etc. - we loved all of it and will never forget our trip here. If Cambodia isn't on your list - add it ASAP!

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for taking your time to comment on your recent stay.
I will share your review with our associates.

We took note about the breakfast price and mattress quality.
The higher breakfast price is needed to maintain the quality of food which is mainly import to ensure the breakfast dining experience satisfied the needs of our international guests.

We acknowledge that we have received feedback about mattress being hard therefore we are addressing this matter. There should be some good news to share with our guests soon!

Concerning our vintage TV, I am pleased to inform you that they will be replaced by the end of November 2013. You are right; it is time for them to retire!

Thank you for staying with us and we hope to have an opportunity to show ourselves in a better light on some other future occasion.

With all our very best wishes,

My family of four had two rooms here for five nights in August. The pool is quite nice. The breakfast had a good variety of western and different Asian foods.

We had several different snacks put in our rom during our stay. The food in the restaurants was a good quality and the prices were very reasonable.

What stood out the most was the service of the hotel staff. Every person was very nice and courteous. When we stepped out of the tut tut with a $10 bill, the doormen said that he would get us change immediately. He knew that we needed change and offered to help without being asked..

The tools are nice. The only drawback is the window between the bathroom and the bed. This hotel, like most hotels in Asia, always has some type of pass through to the bed.

We would have no problems coming back to this hotel.

I have stayed at few of the 5 stars properties in Siem Reap and would say that Le Meridien Angkor is up on the front line in term of services provided by the staff who always ready to greet and assist you whenever possible, The room was spacious with 5* amenities. A minute you step into this property from a long exploring day of Angkor Wat, felt like Oasis with its serenity vibe, great choice of in-house music at the restaurant. Food was great!

Special thanks to Dennis Kam and Elena for theirs generous assistance and services during our stay.

Will highly recommend to anyone who plan to visit Siem Reap!

Without a doubt, Le Meridien at Angor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia will offer you and meet all of your expectations, but I found it a bit too insular. If you want to experience Cambodian culture, then you will be insulated from it by the fortress like surroundings. That being said, as far as amenities are concerned, you will have just about everything. Well furnished rooms are clean, quiet and adequately lit. Plush grounds and excellent breakfast buffet await you. Their offering of daily fresh breads are worth the trip to the buffet even if you are a light breakfast eater.

Staff are excellent and helpful with both Japanese and Cambodian nationals. The front desk concierge was extremely helpful and prompt...nothing was wanting.

Starwood Preferred Guests will enjoy this property if using points and cash or a straight, points only payment. Great pool. Must be in decent shape to walk to your rooms.

Easy access to town via tuk tuk.

Room Tip: If you don't like to walk far, ask for something near the elevator otherwise expect to build up...

Special thanks to Meng Hong who has gone all his ways to assist us with our last minute request. We will definitely re-visit this hotel again.

I have stayed twice in this hotel. It is clean, nicely appointed, friendly staff. It is close to the airport with free pre-arranged pick up. The food is good, it is easy to arrange tours to the temples or into the market. The grounds are spacious and well kept. The pool is beautiful and relaxing. If you are going to Siem Riep this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: Pre-book the pick up from the airport.
