“Oasis of calm”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

If you are looking for a place to completely unwind and switch off, then this is it. Beautiful cottages, amazing food, perfect location just 15 minutes leisurely cycle into Siem Reap. Bruno has thought of everything and nothing is too much hassle. I actually had to cut short my trip due to illness at home and he could not have been more caring. I would recommend this place to anyone and will be returning as soon as I possibly can for more meditation, tai chi and just Angkor Zen-ness!

We often travel to Siem Reap but didn’t know of Angkor Zen Gardens simply because it was opened recently. But, wow… Very different than anything we have seen before around Siem Reap!

The garden is quite impressive, huge trees, wild corners, birds and butterflies everywhere and little paths taking you to the restaurant or to your bungalow.

We started our day with an hour meditation, an hour of Yoga and a copious breakfast and yoga. Lunch was taken in town (we drove 2 bicycles rented at the center, only 15 mn to the center of town) and we were back in this paradise for afternoon Tai Chi class and another hour of meditation. Dinner was a vegetarian Indian buffet, absolutely delicious and Ramesh, the Indian cook is a lovely guy.

It was all so good that we did not moved at all from the center the second day, and really this is the kind of place where you want to stay forever!

We also tried the Khmer massage, 2masseuses came directly to our bungalow for 1H ½ of delight .

Thanks to Bruno, Resa and the staff for this relaxed time, we hope to be back next year.

Highly recommended for all!

We did short 2 days Tai Chi and Qigong Training at the retreat and regretted we didn't discover this place earlier! It's a great escape from Siem Reap with a totally tranquil vibe. You do want to stay there and experience spiritual beauty of it. Bruno ( the owner ) is a very hospitable and friendly host, always ready to accommodate your needs. The grounds are very well designed and maintained. Very clean and welcoming atmosphere. Really enjoyed Qigong and Tai chi with Johny. It was our our first introduction to the martial arts and it worked with us. A great place to stay and to practice if you want to experience spirituality of the Angkor Wat and not to be put off by the hassle of Siem Reap.

Angkor Zen Gardens is relatively new, only a few months and we were lucky to be one of the first guests in this little paradise. The French owner, Bruno and his Khmer wife, Resa, had a real vision of the perfect retreat in the middle of this huge garden. Only a few bungalows (6 or 7, I forgot!) so it can never be crowded and plenty of peaceful activities: yoga, Tai Chi and meditation a few times per day.

Also they had the great idea of hiring an Indian cook, Ramesh, who is doing some amazing vegetarian food…

We stayed 5 days, wish we could have stayed 10…

Also I like to mention that Angkor Zen is only a 5 minutes drive from the center of town, we used the bicycles from the center to go shopping but frankly we were in a hurry to be back in the gardens, Siem Reap is a bit too frantic after a few hours of meditation!!!

Highly recommended if you like a quiet stay.
