“Fabulous hotel”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at this one-of-a-kind hotel and loved every minute of it. The service is warm and friendly and top notch. The food is delicious and served in a wonderful, cultural atmosphere. The rooms are spotless and quite lovely. In addition to all this luxury you can feel happy about the fact that while staying here you are supporting the Shinta Mani Foundation. The foundation does work and education in the community of Siem Reap. They have trained and placed hundred of youth in the hotel industry.

We recently stayed at Shinta Mani Club and used some of the services at the SM Resort, directly opposite. Both hotels offer very high levels of comfort and the warmest and most efficient service we have experienced in 30 years of world travel.

Room Tip: Room 213 was super comfortable and quiet but be prepared to walk up three flights of stairs as there...

This was the first place that we stayed in in our 2 week trip round Cambodia and it was probably the best! The service was outstanding and not over-bearing at all. We got given refreshing towels everytime we came back to the hotel, and water everytime we left. The room was clean and comfortable, the spa was the perfect ending to a day sightseeing the Angkor temples. We also had a tour of the school and farm that Shinta Mani support and left a donation at the end as the overall experience was fantastic and it is wonderful to give back. Overall - fabulous! The breakfast was also one of the best we've ever had.

I’m a frequent traveler both for business and pleasure and Shinta Mani for me is a unique experience unlike any other.
First off, the place is visually stunning. I had no idea who Bill Bensley (famous architect) was prior to staying there. Now I’m a huge fan of his work.
The rooms are beautifully appointed and the attention to detail is to be seen everywhere throughout the property. From the fresh flowers to the mint and lemongrass scents that capture and invigorate the senses.

The food is great too. I’d highly recommend the Khmer tasting menu at Kroya which is the restaurant at Shinta Mani Club.

I was lucky enough to have been there for the 'Made in Cambodia Market' which happens once a month. This is a wonderful gathering of local merchants showcasing arts and crafts, a performance by the Phare Cambodian Circus and local musicians as well as various other food vendors and local NGO’s. Shinta Mani in fact have their own Foundation which I learned does tremendous work in enhancing the lives of individuals in local communities where they operate.

All that being said, the thing that really impressed me most was the staff.
From the moment I arrived, the warmth, pride and sincerity that each and every member of staff brought to their work seemed to rub off on each and every guest.
You can’t help but feel happy here.

Visiting Angkor Wat is what brings most people to Siem Reap but staying at Shinta Mani is what will bring me back.

We really felt that this was a wonderful hotel in terms of service.
- Every member of the team would remember our room number.
- There was a lovely touch of a complimentary continental breakfast in the early hours of the morning if you were getting up fro a tour.
- They were able to book a spot in a very popular restaurant for us during our short stay.
- When are AC broke down they moved us to another room for the night and had mechanics fixing the unit in our room the first thing the next day.
- To top this all off when I left me watch in the safe - they sent someone to drive it to the airport with no talk of cost.

And all of this was done in a manner that it was no trouble at all.

The hotel itself was very unique in its design, very different form most of the others we saw and I can see why it is a Mr & Mrs Hotel. We loved the fact that it was on a street off the main road yet a 10 minute walk to the main hub of Siem Reap.

Highly recommend this hotel if you like modern, stylish, fantastic service, wonderful incense smells and a good nights sleep

Room Tip: Maybe choose a room on the higher levels away from the pool and the main walk ways

What a pleasant surprise! We couldn't get over the genuine friendliness of the staff who were so professional at the same time. The line of thinking of the training program run by the foundation is first class - world first class that is. We have travelled all over the world and cannot match this with any other. The room was excellent and we couldn't hear the airconditioner at night which meant we were able to sleep well. The service was wonderful. The food was excellent - and for those Aussies craving vegemite - guess what - there it was at the breakfast bar!
Congratulations to all at Shinta Mani - not sure when we will be able to return but certainly look forward to it.
Once again well done everyone.
Kind regards,
Pam and Warwick Bull - Melbourne. Australia.

Room Tip: Our room was delightful. We couldn't hear the airconditioner at night so were able to sleep

Our four night stay at Shinta Mani was really wonderful. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Our room had the most comfortable bed with gorgeous linens. The unusual fresh flowers in the room were such a treat. The room was spotless at all times. Our only issue was the rather complex central control panel for the electrics within the room, I had to wait for my husband to turn off my bedside light when I wanted to go to sleep! The delicious breakfasts (we became eggs Benedict/Florentine obsessed) set us up for our extremely full days.
As for the staff, they were warm, friendly and exceptionally welcoming at all times. We were treated like royalty and nothing was too much trouble. The entire ethos of the not for profit Shinta Mani Foundation shines through and is evident when talking with the infectiously enthusiastic general manager Christian who clearly wishes his staff to succeed in their roles and develop realistic goals for the future.
I can’t stop telling everyone how much we loved Cambodia its people and Shinta Mani. Truly a highlight of our trip.
