“Wonderful Stay at This Hidden Gem”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

This is a wonderful, nicely-designed boutique property (by Bill Bensley). Modern, clean and well maintained. With 39 rooms, this is not a Four Seasons or Atlantis-type property with 24-hour room service, a fleet of cars, shopping arcade, etc and so don't expect that. Two floors, no elevators and a much open architecture as opposed to an enclosed building.

It is an oasis and approx 10 minutes' walk from Pub Street and 15 minutes' walk to the Night Market. It is approx 20 mins to Angkor Wat and the airport. The hotel can provide airport transfers and tour recommendations. Tuk tuks are easy to find and convenient.

Service is excellent and staff is friendly, professional and attentive, but not intrusive or overbearing. Very knowledgeable, helpful and proficient in English.

Food offerings excellent, creative and high quality. Breakfast buffet is offered (good pastry/bakery selection) and the dinner menu is creative Asian fusion. The ambiance at the restaurant, esp in the evening for dinner, is very good.

Spa treatments are very good; no fitness center.

We took three rooms for family and friends for two nights. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and spacious. Beds and bed linens are comfortable. Wifi available throughout the hotel, but speed is a bit slow.

Our stay at Shinta Mani helped to make our visit to Siem Reap an excellent, memorable one. Highly recommended

I can't overstate how overwhelmingly positive our stay was at Shinta Mani Siem Reap. After exiting the complimentary airport shuttle, we were greeted by friendly staff with huge smiles and jasmine towels to wipe our travel-weary faces with. The hotel arranged an English Speaking guide with a tuk tuk to take us throughout the Angkor complex, and he shared both his knowledge of Khmer history, and his personal experiences living in Cambodia. All the people we came in contact with were genuine and friendly, and shared their positive spirits with us. The hotel has the first hospitality training school in Cambodia on-site, and this is tangibly reflected in the level of service we received. I did not once have to remind the staff of my room number. The restaurant was EXCELLENT, complimentary breakfast buffet and east-meets-west menu for dinner. The decor is totally chic, something out of any interior magazine, and the whole place smelled like fresh tropical flowers. The spa was up to speed with the rest of the property. Having worked in hospitality in the US, I am amazed at the incredible service offered at such a price-point. Throughout our stay, our needs were anticipated in a friendly, genuine and professional manner. Kudos Shinta Mani! Great stay!

Room Tip: We had a room next to the pool, which was great for lounging and ordering mid-afternoon energizing s...

I am really glad that we chose to stay in the Shinta Mani for the few days that we spent in Siem Reap visiting the temples and the surrounding countryside.

I was a little sceptical at first, given some of the pictures of the hotel looked like it may have been a little too modern in design for our tastes, however it turned out to be much nicer than the pictures.

Good points:
- Very friendly, helpful and smiley staff
- Delicious breakfasts
- Nice sized room with a lovely shower, very comfy beds, high ceilings, daily yummy treat
- Nice pool area
- Easy to get a guide / tuk tuk / whatever if required, at not a huge premium from what you might pay by going out on the streets to haggle yourself
- Very quiet, peaceful hotel with not too many rooms
- Great location

Less good points:
- the pool area doesn't get a huge amount of sun
- we ate at the restaurant one night which I would not recommend, as it was expensive and not very good at all (strange fusion cuisine which didn't work)
- we chose a pool room which was lovely but it might have been nicer to have a garden room or room on the first floor as we felt like we couldn't open our curtains without being seen by other hotel guests / staff

Overall, we very much enjoyed our short stay at Shinta Mani and would definitely recommend a stay there.

Room Tip: Poolside rooms are not very private, perhaps a garden view room or room on the first floor would be...

We spent 4 days in Shinta Mani, first time in cambodia.
Unforgettable experience, I would have liked to mention some 'do better guys' but I couldn't find any !
From decoration to friendliness of staff with some tiny little attentions such as seeds taken away from limes... Perfection lays in details, you will find it there.
Size of hotel is such that after two days, people almost call you by your name, and you do feel they care about you.
Great job !

The hotel is recently renovated and extended, and has a wonderful ambiance. Its architecture and outfitting is well thought out and quite artisitic with a number of local artefacts, and the hotel is very quiet. Our room faced the courtyard with the pool and the bar, but we never heard a sound from the outside. There is complementary WiFi, but don't expect broadband speeds, and the connection was a bit hit and miss.

The staff was very helpful and forthcoming, and very quickly sorted out an issue with the guide company which failed to show up as agreed at the airport. On the day we left, even if there was no late checkout from the room available, without us asking we were offered another room to take a shower and dress for the return flight which was early evening. Everyone we encountered greeted us with a smile, no hint of the "don't bother me, can't you see I'm working" attitude that seems to be the norm in Europe. We had breakfast boxes ready as we left very early in the mornings (5am) to catch sunrise at the temples, ask for more filling sandwiches rather than croissants. The temples are just a few minutes away up the road by car, and the airport 15 minutes. Center of town with Pub Street and alleys is within walking distance, but try a tuk tuk anyway for fun and support of the local economy.

The restaurant has good food both for lunch and dinner at reasonable prices. In addition to the usual tables and chairs, there are a number of swings were you can really feel like a colonial explorer after dark and savour your drink and meal. Across the street another restaurant (French) has apsara shows in the evening.

There is a small pool well sheltered from the midday and afternoon sun, and if you are lucky, the spa staff will come and ask if you want a five minute neck massage by the pool. Of course, you might want to spend some more time in the spa itself if you like the demonstration!

The room was huge. We spent four nights in this hotel. We had a very pleasant stay. The food in the restaurant was really good. Better than some of the rated good restaurants elsewhere. The hotel size is not big, but it's at the right size. You don't want too many people around. We requested late checkout, and they were able to extend it till 2 pm. Location is quite central. 10-15 mins away from Angkor Wat by car. Walking distance to FCC, 5 mins away, and 15 mins away from the night market/ pub street. Can save up some money from taking tuk tuk. Although it only cost $2.

One thing that we noticed though, sometime in the morning we can smell a bit of sewage odor from the bathroom, probably from the drain. But after housekeeping, it tends to go away. Or maybe they put some flowers that covered the smell. We had the same issue with the hotel that we stayed at Phnom Penh. That one was much worse.

Overall, I will recommend this hotel to friends. The experience was great staying with them

This hotel exceeded all expectations. The staff are all incredible with amazing English and a real commitment to customer service, all requests were met with a smile.

The location is a 10 min walk to pub street or a very short tuk tuk ride, so it very central but situated on a quite street.

I would recomend this hotel to any travelers looking for a bit of luxury and peace and quite.
Amazing experience
