Not our first time to Banteay Srei, its one of our favourites. This trip our guide suggested a restaurant on the road back to Siem Reap, Rong Cham Angkor and the food, service and ambience were great.

There's Amok and there is Amok. This is one of the more sophisticated version with a wonderful balance of complex falvours. Beef with peper, salt and lime juice was a revelation, the wonderful bite of lots of fresh ginger with pork, and a great dish of morning glory. Beer was cold and staff were friendly.

After a morning of temples, stop of for lunch and recharge your batteries.

The quality of the carving at this temple is astounding considering it's age and the minimal restoration that has been undertaken. Be aware that some of the pieces are reproductions as the originals are in various museums.

The detail of the stone work is well worth a visit, can get very busy as its a smaller area, but still what's a few minutes waiting for that perfect photo.

A sandstone temple dominated by intricate carvings done by women. According to our guide this is because the carvings are so detailed and intricate they could only have been done by women. So we did have craftswomen in those early centuries. This is a very small temple and well laid out that you can stand at the entrance and be able to see the exit point.
There is very informative display board at the information counter which shows when Banteay Srei was built and compares it to the building of other temples in the world.
