Too bad about the rain squall timed to coincide with our visit.
Not to worry. We came prepared. And it was the only squall while we were out of the van.

We were unprepared for the beauty of this sight. The detail in the carvings made this the jewel of the jungle. Only negative is, it was pretty crowded by the time we arrived and there's a fairly long walk to the exit with vendors hawking their wares.

Avoid the crowds, get here as early as possible. You may be on your own. You may have an experience you will never forget.

This was one of my favorite temples. It is about a 40 minute drive through the Cambodian countryside to arrive here. That alone is beautiful. Come early in the morning to beat the crowds and you will have a better experience. This temple has a very intimate feeling about it and the stone carvings are magnificent. Don't miss the photo exhibit depicting the history, discovery, and pre-restoration photography.

Worth the extra time to get to this site. The color of the stone brings to life the vivid depictions. It is a miracle that so many details were left from 1400 years ago. Our guide told us it is the pink stone the most durable of its kind and the hardest to carve that is responsible for that
