This temple should not be missed. We enjoyed it far more than another. The carvings are fabulous. We spent more time here than at any other temple. It is away from the other temples and crowds were not heavy. We had plenty of time for photographs.

It's a bit of a drive from the 'main' temples, but it is SO worth it!! The intricate, detailed carvings that adorn it is something you really do not want to miss! So intricate that it is apprently known as a 'Lady Temple,'since people have said that no man can pay so much attention to detail!
And, it is the only temple built of PINK sandstone, while Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple etc. are built from gray sandstone. The contrast of colors due to the moss as a result of the heavy rainfall was also quite interesting. None of the temples had carvings as detailed as this one. I highly recommend that every one go see this gem!

It was a hot dusty drive out to Banteay srei but it was worth it. Make sure you go right out to the back and take your photo throughout the gap in the surrounding wall, the reflection on the water and the angle means you can capture the whole thing.

Half an hour car ride from Angkor Wat, this is also another temple not to be missed! However, it's kind of a disappointment since the colour of the temple which is supposed to be pink, turned into somewhat wooden-brown colour because of the deforestation that happened there.
