“Great value and great Cambodian experience”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

For the price, I was expecting something nice but 3 star (by North American standard) quality. I was happy that this hotel exceeded my expectation. We booked a base room but was upgraded to a Landmark room facing back of the hotel. It was nice room, and I knew from the photos how the room would look like, but I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanness and good practicality of the room. i.e. shower with good water pressure and good hot water most of the time, spacious bathroom and nice clean tub!! The only thing I didn't love was the squeaking bed and the bathroom amenities. I was glad I brought my own shampoo/conditioner and toothbrushes etc.
The quality, service, and the whole experience would not match the true 5 star foreign owned property, but you pay at least twice or three times the price for that. Borei had a great breakfast spread. Again, there were some things with quality issues (hmm... orange juice?? pancakes and waffles....? Good crepes, though) but overall I enjoyed it. I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a solid 3.5-4 star quality hotel. For the price, you'll really appreciate it.

I am from Singapore. Fetching and sending back to airport was a excellent service. My four days stay was a wonderful stay. (August 2013). Staffs was very friendly. All staff can speak English.
Even our last day we have only 4 hours. We approach the staff to ask what we can do, good suggestion. we went to
the lake, mongroove and temple which is near by on the way back to the hotel. I will go back again. I will hightly recommend family with small children. They will enjoy the swimming pool.

We stayed in a landmark room for 3 nights on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool. The room was quite spacious and nicely decorated with a taste of Cambodia. It had a large flat screen TV with several choices of channels and a balcony with a nice table and chairs which we used for having dinner (nice street food bought from outside). The lobby was spacious and there was a girl playing the xylophone to which we really enjoyed listening.

However we had mixed feelings about the staff and their services. Some staff were really nice and competent like the reception girl who could separate our bills onto different credit cards and answer all our questions with ease; some staff were a little over-attentive and trying a little bit too much to impress with the unintended result of making us feel a little uncomfortable; some were quite incompetent and gave contradictory information regarding entrance fees to the archelogical sites and the possible routes leading to these sites. At times we felt that they just wanted to get money from us. We felt that they get commission from recommending us to certain restaurants. We felt a little deceived when we found out that the restaurant they said to have nice and cheap local cambodian food turned out to be a classy expenive restaurant tailored only for tourists. We ended up having to walk away and found a much better restaurant serving cheap local cuisine. They should have also warned us that in rainy season we might not get to see Kbal Spean carvings because of the amount of water. Instead they just gave us the quote for car hire and said we might need a guide to explain the importance of the carvings. Luckily we didnt get the guide otherwise it would have been a complete waste of money. The hotel should have been less money-driven and more caring and thoughtful.

We found the food at the hotel to be too expensive and asked the staff if there were some nice places within walking distance from the hotel where we can have some food. They said no. If we believed them, we wouldnt have found out the best street food market less than 10 mins walk from the hotel which sells delicious and relatively cheap food at night for local people. Just turn right when you got out of the hotel and keep walking straight for about 10 mins and you will see a local market on your right and various stalls selling local food on the opposite side. We recommend you try the roasted quails and snakehead fish!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Borei. They had a good selection of food for breakfast (although no freshly squeezed juices sadly). More professional and thoughtful staff would have made our stat a much more memorable one.

We stayed at this property for 3 nights in late August 2013. Everything about the hotel was great. The rooms were well furnished and very comfortable, the level of service was excellent, the pool was lovely and the breakfast was fantastic. The tour desk was also great - we organised a private guide and car for the day to explore the temples and for two of us the price was similar to tours offered by travel agents. The overall price of our stay was excellent value for the level of quality and service that the hotel offered. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone planning on travelling to Siem Reap.

Room Tip: We upgraded to a Landmark room package which was only a little more per night than the standard pack...

I stayed a couple of nights for a quick visit of the temples. The hotel arranged a driver and guide. The guide was well worth it, I had a man by the name of Sovan (sp?) who was great. The rooms were lovely, well stocked and decorated. Beautiful outdoor pool and breakfast buffet. The spa was okay, standards of service could be a bit better considering the prices are so inflated. Location wasn't far from Pub Street, walkable or you can take a tuk-tuk. I had great service in the bar with Botum. I would certainly come back.

Great breakfast buffet, loved the fresh fruit and Asian soups.
The best part is the service, staff go above and beyond to make your stay memorable all with a smile!
Everything was just great. I would definitely go back to this hotel.
