Borei Angkor Resort & Spa
Ranked #38 of 365 Hotels in Siem Reap
Reviewed October 6, 2012

Being a world traveler I've been lucky enough to experience many great resorts, and many bad ones too :) Borei Angkor Resort does not disappoint. The service could be compared to what you would get at the Ritz, but the price is what you'd pay for a Holiday Inn. If you provide your flight information, they'll pick you up free of charge and upon arrival you'll be greeted with drinks and dessert. The room was also very spacious, included free wifi and a 40 inch flat screen.

The pool was also quite nice and you're only a 5min Tuk Tuk ride from Pub Street!

If you're coming to Cambodia to tour the Angkor temples,I would highly suggest staying here.

Our stay at Borei Angkor was the highlight of our trip. The staff were fantastic especially Leang Se whose service was amazing. We certainly felt special everyday with the many small acts of kindness shown to us by all members of staff. The friendly greetings, the smiles and the offers of assistance added an extra something to the experience. Renovations at the resort had no impact on the service delivery at the hotel. The room was clean spacious and well appointed. The food and beverage at the hotel although more expensive than Pub street were good value for the quality and level of service. We loved our stay and will recommend the resort to others.

Want to give a shout out to the wonderful staff at Borei Angkor, especially Judy, Soriya, and Dany at the hospitality desk, their genuine smiles and assistance much appreciated and made our trip to Siem Reap so wonderful!

We stayed in a deluxe room, quite spacious and very clean. The pool is beautifully laid out and offered great reprieve from sight seeing. Not in the center of the city, but still only five minutes by tuk tuk, not far at all.

Room Tip: Deluxe facing pool better as currently renovation on main lobby in the front. Not at all noisy from...

If it were not for what happened on the last day, my review would probably be rather different, although I was already disappointed with the service. I stayed at the Angkor Borei for 6 nights (initially I had booked only for two but decided to stay longer and renewed twice). On the day I left, while waiting for my pick-up in the lobby, an employee approached me and told me that I had to pay USD 10.50 for a stone ampoule which was found broken in my room. In fact, on the first day of my stay, the shampoo bottle fell in the shower and broke… unlucky, true, but not so weird to accidentally drop a shampoo bottle in the shower! Anyhow, I was extremely surprised with the request for different reasons: I am in a 5-star hotel and that sounds really lame; I broke it on the first day and I am told after I have renewed my stay for 4 additional nights; if you put stone/glass containers in the rooms, you can expect that some will break with usage! I complained and, after a brief discussion, I was told that if I made a written declaration that I did not break the ampoule on purpose, I did not have to pay for it!!! I was in a hurry as my pick-up was waiting outside so unfortunately I did not ask to see the manager. Nevertheless, I was really appalled with the request and the treatment received! Before the incident I had already noticed a decrease in the quality of service and a decline in the attention paid to me as a client. I hope that the poor service is not due to the fact that, since I was travelling simply with rucksack and bicycle (I had a bicycle to move around the city instead of a car or tuk-tuk and a couple of times I went back to the hotel completely soaked from the rain), I was seen as a less valuable and not potential future client. I really hope it is not because of it that on the morning I left and I went downstairs nobody came to take my luggage while someone swiftly offered to carry the suitcase of the customer who came down just a few minutes after me. I hope it is not because of it but only by coincidence that the service offered to me was not of the high standard expected in such a facility otherwise I have to say that at the Borei Angkor they have not learned anything about customer service. After my experience, I will not recommend to stay at the hotel: I will definitely not stay again in my future travels to Cambodia and I not recommend it to friends and colleagues. You are spoilt for choice in Siem Reap and can find a broad variety of hotels!

We alread finished our trip in Siem Reap. I was booked Delux room in Borei Angkor Resort & Spa through offical website with a cheaper price as promotion rate which also include buffet breakfast, set menu ,earily check in ,free round trip transfers, welcome fruit basket, free internet usage and discount on spa and food. Its be better offer than other agency.

We were picked up at the airport and upon arrival ,thats beautiful live music in the loddy ,we were given welcome drinks and cold towel ,also the warm greeting with smile form the staff. The hotel offer earily check in while we were sleeply ,its a great dream for us. And more suprise is we were offered upgrade to suit room, its amazing for us.The room is clean and spacious ,include comfortable living area , lovely clean bedding and very comfortable pillows . The bathroom had a jacuzz bathtub which was lovely to relax in after a busy day at the temples .The delight was the the outside bathtub on the balcony with the picturesque of poolside .

Within hours of my arrival, staff remember our room number and were addressing us by name with a smile and a friendly greeting. All the staff from the driver, valet, entry desk, restaurant are extremely polite, friendly, very helpful and engage in pleasant conversation. We love their smile face and the warm greeting.

An amazing buffet breakfast either in airconditioned comfort or outside by the wonderful pool deck. The breakfasts were lavish and had a huge variety of wonderful pastries, waffles, local Asian fare of rice porridge with assorted condiments, an international selection of breads, cereals, eggs made to order, a large variety of fresh local fruit, fresh juices, excellent selection of cheese, jams and superb coffee. I highly recommend to try the noodles as it is taste delicious. Yummy !!
We had lunch set with Western and ambodiaone style, both good taste for both star, main course and dessert .The decor is beautiful and elegant.

Renovations were in the front entrance during our stay but the held no concequence to us .
On the 4th floor there is a nice lounge (damnak) with view over the town.Thats a promotion of 50% off for Happy Hour.

This is a beautiful hotel with excellent service, but the location is not near to Pub Street . Only US$2 for tuk tuk ride to the center of the city and there are always drivers waiting outside the hotel to take you.If you would like to join tour or make transportaion ,the hotel 's Tuk-Tuk USD15/per day and Half day USD 10$/per day and Private car USD35/per day Half day USD22/per day for Angkor Complex visiting,of course it will be extra charge for further distance such as: Bantey Srei, Kbal Spean.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this place and would have loved to spend a couple more days if we had some more time. Will certainly come and stay here if we come to Siem Reap again.

Lastly I would like to thaks all of the staff inBorie Angkor, espically the Manager ,Jamice or Jannice (Her name badge show "Pxxxxxxx" ,I dont remember so much :p ) a little girl whose wear glass with smile face.

Room Tip: Renovations were in the front entrance ,i will be finish around end of this year.

I love this hotel. one of the best hotels I have stayed in.

We were picked up at the airport and the driver of the van was very helpful-he answered our questions from what places to visit, the weather, where to eat etc.

when we got to the hotel, the staff were very helpful in letting us feel comfortable while waiting to be checked in. Their lobby was big enough to accommodate a huge number of people. They had comfy seats while waiting.

There was an ongoing construction when we stayed but u would not notice it at all. it was very cleverly "hidden".

The deluxe room we stayed in was bigger than what I had expected. The beds were great and i love their bathroom. The bathtub is a thumbs up for me.

I love their bathrobes as well. First time to wear one that is not white. =)

The staff were nice enough to find us a tuktuk driver to take us to the night market for dinner. they were also nice enough to get us tickets for our bus trip to Bangkok.

I love their food. they have great choices in their breakfast buffet. their dinner set meals are not bad at all. very affordable.

the swimming pool is great too. i think this is a pet friendly hotel since i saw three dogs roaming around the pool area and no one was shooing them away.

all in all...love this hotel. totally worth the money we paid for.

Room Tip: bring small bills in US$. your $1 could go a long way...be ready to barter alot especially in the ol...
