Excellent food, my husband said that the red curry ($4) was the best he had had and although I have only had 1 other fish amok ($4) it was excellent quality. Genevieve's offers both a small but good cambodian and western selection of foods, our son had the beef (australian) lasagne ($5) and it was beautifully cooked, meaty and creamy. They have a small clean busy kitchen which you can watch at work, a clean western toilet and the outdoor eating area is relaxed with a good mix of western music. It is a small restaurant but with enough seating to create a nice atmosphere. The staff were adorable, good pleasant service, and the waiter did sing 2 old traditional cambodian songs and an english song without musical accompaniment which was lovely. Cocktails form $1.50 and a daily special, we enjoyed the mango liqueur crepes ($4 and enough to share) for dessert :) highly recommended. It is a little bit hidden but there is a big sign outside. They also support cambodian NGO's and give their staff extra training over and above what they need to do the job.

Book ahead as this place can be quite busy. We enjoyed the fish amok which was rich and delicious. Reasonably priced and attentive staff made it all a very enjoyable meal and they support local orgs. All round winner!

We ate at Genevieve's tonight and have already booked to go back tomorrow for our last night in Siem Reap. We have eaten very well I Cambodia but the food tonight was the best we have had and the entertainment (one of the waiters has a great singing voice) just made the evening complete.
Genevieve support several good causes in Cambodia and also provide excellent training for their staff and share 10% of their profits with them. I would recommend the food to anyone and would urge you to support them.

A pleasant little place to go for a "safe" experience for good, honest food...
Situated down a little road way on the right hand side, bright blue and white chairs dominate the courtyard area where you are seated.
The cooking area is behind the wall of the courtyard, and the chefs are incredibly industrious considering the little area that they cook from.
The toilets are clean.
The young staff are polite, cleanly dressed and very helpful.
We even had a little song or two from one of the male waiters which is very endearing.
All in all, I would say that the restaurant is a good starting point to start your food experience from, even if you would like Roast Lamb!
The restauranteur has a great philosophy and ethos behind the staff whom work for him which adds to the experience.

Phil R, Owner at Genevieve's Restaurant, responded to this reviewResponded January 16, 2014

On behalf of the 50 or 60 customers who don't write a review but come to Genevieve's every day, I hope that we are more than 'a pleasant little place to go for a "safe" experience for good, honest food'. These customers have said that our amok, lok and red chicken curry are "amazing", "excellent", "delicious". Many other of our freshly made Khmer and Western menu items are commented upon with equal praise. Our desserts are "fantastic".
Our waiter who sings has been sick for a week but he was back to his best last night and wowed them. Most customers are also fascinated by seeing our neighbors crocodiles from our mini balcony in the middle of Siem Reap. Many a customer has been seen quietly bopping along to our carefully put together music collection.
Genevieve's also gives 10% of our profits to a community garden program, a breakfast club, a very needy family and a building project. Our friendly, hard-working staff also get 10% of our profits. The remaining 80% pays off a few of my debts but will eventually contribute towards a school/community project in or around Siem Reap.
I respect your comments as your genuine experience and note that many of them were positive. I and the majority of our customers disagree slightly with your summary of our food. Thanks very much.

We ended going for lunch on our last day in Cambodia as they were fully booked for dinner the night before. So make sure you book a table for dinner.

The food and service was excellent.

There were 3 diners but we only ordered 2 starters. When Phil the owner saw only 2 diners were eating he immediately came over to make sure everything was ok and that we weren't waiting on the third dish.

Recommend the chicken curry! save room for the banana desert with ice cream as there's lots of it.
