Owner description: Phare, The Cambodian Circus "Amazing vibe & energy, transforming the lives of Cambodian youth" Experience Siem Reap's most unique, authentic top rated (TripAdvisor & Lonely Planet) evening entertainment. More than just a circus, Phare, the Cambodian Circus performers use theater, music, dance and modern circus arts to tell uniquely Cambodian stories; historical, folk and modern. The young circus artists will astonish you with their energy, emotion, enthusiasm and talent. Phare artists are students and graduates from Phare Ponleu Selpak's vocational training centre in Battambang. The association was formed in 1994 by 9 young men coming home from a refugee camp after the Khmer Rouge regime. They were greatly helped during that time by an art teacher using drawing classes as therapy and wanted to share this new skill among the poor, socially deprived and troubled youngsters in Battambang. They founded an art school and public school followed to offer free education. A music school and theatre school were next and finally, for the kids who wanted more, the circus school. Today more than 1,200 pupils attend the public school daily and 500 attend the alternative schools. Phare Ponleu Selpak also has extensive outreach programs, trying to help with the problems highlighted in their own tales. Phare The Cambodian Circus offers these students and graduates somewhere to hone their skills and a place to earn a decent wage. Money that will take them out of poverty and give them self-respect and freedom.

This was the most intense hour of entertainment one can imagine. I live in Vegas and have seen few shows that had the energy and spectacular acrobatics of this one. A must see.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show. The energy and exuberance of the young performers ensured that we sat through the performance with a smile on our faces. The young people, who all come from disadvantaged backgrounds, have been trained to a high level of skill and their confidence is heart-warming.
I believe that the show changes constantly, but the show that we saw was great entertainment and a wonderful way to spend an evening in Siem Reap.

Just got back from the Cambodian Circus and it was utterly brilliant. Creative, surprising, funny, unbelievable. For a great cause. If you do one thing in Siem Reap do this.

I found the rave reviews for this show on tripadvisor and was not disappointed. It was an acrobatic show full of tremendous energy that took off from the start and never let up. It's a small circus tent where all the seats are good although I would suggest arriving a little early so that you can sit right in the middle which is the focus of the show. (There are no bad seats). After a day of seeing the temples, this is a great before or after dinner experience. You will be impressed.

These young acrobats energise the whole crowd within minutes. They know how to interact with the visitors, their talent and dedication is great and they manage to make it look like fun! On top of it this is for a good cause - ten times more fun evening entertainment than Pub Street in Siem Reap!
