Description: Marum features a winning mix of creative local cuisine, and is named after the Moringa, or 'Tree of life' - very appropriate, as customers will be enjoying a fantastic dining experience that helps build a new life for the students in training there!

The restaurant also trains its staff and while some of the wait staff seemed a little ill at ease, they were very attentive. The food is a slightly unusual take on Cambodian and Lao cuisine in small tapas-style helpings. Everything we had was very good.

A training restaurant for former street kids , this restaurant is excellent in all ways . The setting is in a lovely green garden with trees and the outdoor seating is the best.
The menu is good with small twists to the mainly Khmer cuisine that are a nice change.
The service is good, the student staff very helpful and if they cannot answer a question there is always a "teacher " around to quietly help.
In the same premises is a small shop that sells the goods made by part of this organisation. Having bought some of their goods 3 years ago I returned to search out the shop to buy more and thus found this new restaurant opened more recently ---a delightful surprise !
Great place to visit !

Hands down, the best dining experience we had in Cambodia. The dishes and cocktails were delicious, fresh, and creative. The setting was beautiful. But the real gem lies at the heart of this restaurant, where kids with the deck stacked against them are given the tools and the chance to create a brighter future for themselves and their families. Service here came with a genuine smile, and we would go back in a heartbeat.

This restaurant was a great finding in Siem Reap. We were at the Heritage Suites (Relais & Chateaux), which is less than 100 meters from the restaurant, so had the opportunity to eat at Marum twice in 5 days. Each time, tried different things. You can't go wrong - creative dishes, mixing traditional Cambodian ingredients with a modern twist. Try several dishes, they are small and perfect to share. Even the more "challenging" dishes, such as the red ant croquettes, were delicious. And the passion fruit and sugar cane freeze was awesome. Deserts were a bit disappointing though. But definitely a great experience. Highly recommended.

Our hotel suggested the restaurant and some of the other guests had enjoyed it so we gave it a try.
Going down a back street in the tut-tut it is a nice surprise to arrive at a sophisticated looking place with a beautiful courtyard and lively atmosphere (less lively inside - try to book a courtyard table).
Staff were perhaps too numerous, but were attentive and efficient. We ate fried dumplings, meatballs and fish cakes. Sounds boring - but trust me it wasn't. Lovely subtle flavors in each one. Good selection of small dishes, allows you to choose a few, share and sample more food.
Good value too - my wife spent more in the gift shop than we did on dinner!

Thank Peter H
