Well priced hotel that is a 1min walk to the main area of Siem Reap where the markets are, as well as shops, eateries and reataurants on Pub Street.
Staff are helpful with bags etc and it's all relaxed and low key.
There are 2 pools, which is a great way to refresh after seeing the temples.

We stayed here for 4 nights on Jan 2013 and I have to say the place beat all my expectations.

The hotel is just off the main drag of shops and restaurants, are enough not to get disturbed by any noise but close enough to walk to the shops and food places ( of which there are many)
Around 20 minutes to the main ticket office for the temple run.
Very well organized our online booking was fine and everything was in order.

Decent sized rooms, well appointed bathroom, good beds Satellite TV, Tea coffee, pool and Spa what more do you need.

Breakfast is buffet style but dont let that put you off a very extensive rand of food. Egg station and staff very willing to get you that something special you want.

Did not use the Spa but it did have all the services you would expect are reasonable rates.

If we go back to Siem Reap then we will certainly choose this place.
You want to be confident about where you sleep and eat sometimes and this gave us exactly what were looking for.
Comfortable, Decent rooms, reasonable prices, good location, helpfull staff,

Room Tip: rooms at the back whilst having no view were quieter, top floor also

I booked this hotel based on the nice photos provided on Agoda and the hotel website. Stayed 2 nights for a total of USD190 (or USD95 per night). Not the cheapest by Cambodia standards and therefore I am expected to have higher expectations. I have stayed previously at 6 different hotels in Siem Reap over the last 7 years and hence I do have a reasonably good knowledge of the hotel industry at Siem Reap. I wanted a hotel that was close to amenties, romantic setting, good breakfast and I had thought the hotel price would be a good indicator - BUT IT WAS NOT. Except for the location being close to the Old Market, there's really nothing to shout about.

This is a 3 star hotel (or an upgraded guest house). The photos are kinda deceiving...it is not as nice as they suggest. The furniture is dated and in need of refurbishment to justify this price. There's no gym although there is a small pool. What spoiled my stay was the terribly low standards of housekeeping. Upon check-in, I noticed the floor mat cloth and the hair comb was soiled in the toilet (see photos attached). Next I could see a couple of mosquitoes flying near the room mirror. When I hit the mirror attempting to kill the mosquitoes, dust came pouring down from the top of the mirror. The blanket duvet smells like it has been used by someone and not changed.

The hotel tries its best attempt to up its romantic rating by having no bathroom door and a translucent shower glass. One look and you could tell it's a cheap attempt with poor quality finishing. Note also that no shower door can be an issue when your partner is doing the daily toilet business. The toiletries are a giveaway of a budget hotel: semi-solid shower gel that you have to press hard to release from its hard plastic container, small pink soap, thin towels. They only provide 1 toilet roll (which was already half-used upon arrival) and the paper quality suggests it is bought from the usual cheap minimart. Last but not least, breakfast is mostly processed food re: sausages, ham. The kitchen is of a good size and therefore there is no reason why they can't whip up more dishes using fresh ingredients. Breakfast has not much for the Asian tourists which make up about 40% hotel guests based on my observation during my stay, though there is a noodle counter. The restaurant has a ventilation issue...you'd smell after your breakfast due to the fried egg station.

This hotel is worth US$50 - US$60 max. Anything more is simply not worth. Siem Reap has plenty of accomodation choices at this price range which gives you much better run for your money.

We left Siem Reap with our allocated taxi driver Wii and made our way to our hotel, Royal Crown Hotel & Spa. During this $7 taxi ride in which Wii showed us around Siem Reap and bit and gave us his recommendations on what we should do while in this region.

Of course Wii was also interested in getting us to agree to use his taxi services over the few days that we were there. He spoke good english, appeared to have a great knowledge of the area and keen interest in the history, and offered what we thought was quite a reasonable price for each of day's itinerary that he proposed. So we agreed and our next few days were suddenly organised.

We were instantly happy with our hotel room, it was clean and very comfortable. The staff, although their english wasn't as good as Wii's were very friendly. Siem Reap and Pub Street itself was fantastic, relaxed, easy to get around, friendly and had very good prices for food and drink.

It was the 3 days of adventure that Wii guided us through that really made our stay something special. Yes we visited the temples which were amazing but we appreciated more the "off the beaten track" trips that Wii took us on like to Tonle Sap lake and up into the mountains about 90 minutes drive from Siem Reap. We met lots of very friendly locals and were lucky enough to try some great local cuisine in the little villages we passed through.

If you are lucky enough to bump into Wii (angkorwii@gmail.com) and he offers to take you up to the mountain to see some carvings under the river and stone sculptures in the middle of the jungle then I strongly recommend you take him up on his offer. It was a more expensive day because it was a much longer journey but very well worth it. The day even involved a 30 minute each way ride on the back of a motor bike through the jungle to see some hidden stone carvings that I am sure only very few visitors to Angkor get the opportunity to experience.

We arrived here after a 6 hour ferry ride from Phnom Penh. I would recommend the ferry ride to anyone. We took the bus back to Phnom Penh 2 days later and we reckon the ferry ride's more pleasant. You also get to see the fishing villages along the way. ANyway, we were welcomed by a staff member who had a 'trainee' badge but he checked us in without any fuss and escorted us to our room and made sure that we were comfortable. The rooms are large and clean and we had one with a balcony that overlooked the road. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance to Pub Street, the main tourist precinct, and all the street markets and night markets were nearby. We walked everywhere. We didn't expect it but breakfast was also included in our booking. What a breakfast it was! It was more a feast! A buffet, there was heaps of food, a variety of western and local dishes; after breakfast, we didn't need lunch. Our only gripe would be that we had to find a tour operator outside to organise a tour of Angkor Wat. The hotel had a travel desk but they only arranged personal tours. We wanted to join in a group tour and to do that, we had to find our own travel agency outside. Other than that, no complaints.

New wing rooms are large, spacious, clean and have most required amenities, no safe though.
Great shower, however bathroom is tiny
Salt water pool can get crowded, if so, try pool on the other side
Good extensive breakfast offered from 6 am.
The hotel is in a perfect location as it is walking distance to the market, pub street etc but not too close to be noisy.

A must try are the ice creams at blue pumpkin - best we've ever had!!

Room Tip: Get a room in the new wing

We used Agoda to book a double room at Royal Crown Hotel. We usually do not like buffet-style breakfasts, but the breakfast had an egg station and fresh passion fruit juice, so it was OK for breakfast and unremarkable for other meals. We really loved the rooftop bar for sundowners. The Old Market was a short walk away so we only used tuk-tuks to go further out. Across the street was the French Academy restaurant, which offers good set meals. Overall we enjoyed our stay despite the construction being done around the Fresh Water pool. It was good value for the price that we paid so we would stay there again.

Room Tip: Higher floors on the side of the Salt Water Pool have less noise.
