“Marvelous site”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

Angkor Wat is not the only amazing temple in the Siem Reap area. There are a number of them in the park and across the countryside, many from different periods, built by different rulers, each distinctive. Angkor Thom is one you will not want to miss for its sites made famous Hollywood adventure movies.

“Stunning ancient walled city”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

Angkor Thom is a walled city (the last capital of the Khmer empire) and each side is about 2 miles long, so it's huge and will take a goodly amount of time to properly explore. Bayon sits in the exact center and begin your visit there at dawn when the early morning light shines on the stones. The city is laid out as a model of the universe and construction began around 1,000 years ago. The area to the north of Bayon is best seen by taking your time and walking around. Unfortunately some areas that were previously open to passage are now blocked off but there is still plenty to see. Be sure to climb to the top of the temples which allow access. A myriad of temples awaits your discovery! I never tire of them.

“a great temple”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

as like all historic ruins having a good guide really helps,as you learn more then what you can read in a book so you see all the greatness and not looking at the book trying to figure out where you are

“Overwhelming”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

So much area to cover, so much to see. Would recommend going the first time with a guide and then going back to explore in more leisure. Checking out maps and deciding on "must sees" ahead of time would be helpful.
