As all Aman Group Hotels this is one unique unit, former Guest House for King Sihanouk, as all the requirements to be a place where you can have a good relaxation time, as well visiting the Angkor!
Great Experience to be catched, at airport, by the old Mercedes from King Sihanouk.
Very good staff.

We have stayed in a lot of fabulous hotels but this one was really amazing. It's expensive, but the level of service is beyond anything I have experienced before. We knew we were in for a treat from the moment we arrived at the airport. We were whisked through arrivals to two cars - only to find that the modern one was for our luggage and the vintage limo was for us - what a lovely touch!

I know a lot of other reviewers have covered most of the points but let me just go through my highlights:-
1. The staff anticipated our needs before we had even thought of them. When they noticed our daughter had not joined us for dinner one night because she was tired, they asked whether they could deliver something to the room.
2. The cold towels and water at regular intervals throughout our sight seeing.
3. The immaculate transport to and from the temples.
4. The amazing guide. He knew everyone and made us feel that we had had a very personal and special tour around the temples on each day.
5. The day I decided to go swimming in the 25m pool immediately after the rain and as I was swimming, the lounger cushions, towels and umbrellas were made ready for me even though there was no one else around.
6. The unobtrusive but personal service. The fact that the restaurant staff always remembered what we liked.
7. The delicious food.
8. The straw hats, insect repellant, fruit, gifts, sarongs in our rooms (and a fantastic guide book to refer to).
9. Comfy beds, privacy and quiet. Immaculately clean. The hotel itself had such an interesting history.
10. When we left it seemed that all the staff were out to wave goodbye to us - again, a lovely touch. As I looked back they were all gathered on the drive waving.

Thank you Amansara for a truly memorable stay at Siem Riep.

Room tip: We had rooms with our own private pools - lovely!

Another unique Aman property - the former guesthouse of King Sihanouk. The magic started from the airport when the Aman representative whisked us through immigration and shepherded us to a retro Mercedes (1962 - the king's former car I was told) for the airport transfer.

We were upgraded to a pool suite which was a very pleasant surprise. They also gave us a very late checkout without us asking. This Aman property is smaller than the others I've stayed in, and has a very private, residential feel to it.

The suites are parked on either side of a large courtyard. The large suites are decked out in typical Aman signature style. Lots of natural materials and neutral hues. There are two small common pools and a spa (also small-ish but the treatments were professional and Golf). But no gym.

There were some touches of personal service in Amansara which we really appreciated. The servers in the dining room knew our water and food preferences almost immediately and brought things automatically. There was a thoughtful objet d'art waiting for us on our bed every evening. A different sort of tropical fruit (with helpful instructions on how to eat it) was also refreshed each morning.

We are several meals at the dining room and were impressed by the quality of the Khmer cuisine. We were never bored with the food. The dinner menu changed nightly but the lunch menu stayed the same while we were there.

Another unique thing about this hotel was that they attached a guide and tuk tuk/car/jeep driver to us for the entire stay. The driver would wait for us while we went shopping or had meals. The level of commitment to personal attention was impressive

Service was top notch all round. Almost everyone spoke fluent English and it was easy to communicate. The staff were always happy to provide personal recommendations and insights. The friendly F&B manager Mungo also took the time to have a conversation with the guests in the dining room at least once a day.

We were given the opportunity one night of listening to a private concert by an a capella group visiting from Yale. It was an unexpected but welcome treat.

I'll definitely be staying here again the next time I'm in Siem reap.

I'm out of superlatives.

The hotel is a minimalist gem. Everything just works flawlessly. The staff are ALL charming. The ratio to guests must be huge as every need is anticipated. The maid noticed my kids ate the cookies - and from then on left double helpings....

Food is excellent (Local and Western). Drinks are complimentary..

Undoubtedly the hotels biggest strength is their arrangements for touring the temples of Angkor and the surrounding districts. It was like the best Safari like she we've stayed in - only temples.

Aman hotels are very expensive. In this case the Amansara could not have done more to justify the price.

We have been loyal and dedicated Guests of Aman Hotels around the world. Over the years we have stayed at Aman in Indonesia, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Bora-Bora and many more. Upon arrival to Siem Reap we have decided to visit Amansara resort to book 4 nights and experience it. However upon arrival to the closed gates we were stopped by a guard who asked us if we had a booking. We told them we didn't have a booking and arrived to book it personally. He called the reception and we were REFUSED the entrance to the hotel...We were forced to turn around and leave. After such a 'warm' greeting by one of our favourite hotels and feeling so humiliated by them we will never return or book our stay with them again.
