“Midrange hotel, a little aged but friendly”
Reviewed December 22, 2008

Siem Reap is starting to become a shiny tourist town with boutique bars and large hotels. This hotel is a little aged, but friendly staff and a nice bar area to relax in.

We had three rooms here, the first was a bit aged but very large. The second was in the villa by the pool but they couldnt get the electric to work so we ended up with a pool view room with balcony. The pool area and villa rooms are new but the rest is not.

The staff were friendly enough and though the area may seem a bit dark and dusty, I think with the small number of reasonable looking bars on the street and comings and goings, that the area is fine. If you dont want to stay in the big chains and want to experience a more realistic area of the town, this hotel is suitable.

November seemed to be a busy time in Siem Reap, so while I didn't end up here by default, it was not my first choice. I did not have high expectations, afterall I chose not to stay at Raffles. I chose a mid-priced hotel, not too far from town. I was expecting a clean, comfortable room and that is what I got. The service I had was good, the staff was very helpful, breakfast was decent. My only complaint really was about breakfast, the food options were good, but for drinks only coffee or tea were included in the room rate, as I drink neither, it was a challenge to convince the restaurant staff that I was willing to pay for juice.

The location was convenient to Pub Street, although some of the side streets are a little dark. I never felt unsafe as a single woman.

And they do a great job with laundry, which was very reasonably priced.

We had a pool villa room at the Auberge, which was an average size with a king bed, a desk, and a padded bay window seating area. The bathroom had an enclosed shower and a separate tub. The water in the shower took a little while to figure out, there is a machine near the showerhead that you may have to turn on that adjusts the water temperature. This hotel is a bit noisy in the mornings, there is a children's school or daycare near the restaurant side that was always loud during breakfast time. The staff isn't rude, but isn't very helpful either. Several times we returned to an empty front desk and had to look for someone to give us our key. Breakfast was good, choice of several egg dishes or pancakes, also fruit, baguette, & coffee/tea. The location is walkable to pub street, or you can take a three minute tuk-tuk ride for $1. This was the only hotel throughout our trip to Southeast Asia that we had issues with mosquitos getting into the room. We realized after the first night they were probably coming in through the cracks in the door and did our best to block those with towels. There are probably better places to stay in Siem Reap.

This hotel is located a short walk from the markets and Pub street (many restaurants to chose from). The first person we met was not the most friendly but everyone else is very friendly and wanting to please. The unfriendly lady remained unfriend when we saw her throughout our stay...perhaps she was having a bad week.
When we were place in a room that faced the front road I was concerned about noise, but it was not a problem at all. The room was clean. The beds and pillows were hard but the A/C worked well and they have a fridge which is great when you travel with a 3 year old. The salt water pool was refreshing in the afternoon. Breakfast was sufficient. My husband usually eats 2 meal and the second meal was a measly $2.00, a deal. It was juice, baquette, fruit and pancake or eggs. It did the trick to get you going.
Tuk tuks are available outside the hotel. Usually charge $2.00 to get Pub street but could try to barter for $1.00.
We ate dinner at the hotel across the road a couple times since we were too tired to go elsewhere. The food was very tasty and the drink cold.
I would recommend and return to this hotel if in Siem Reap.

After travelling down the coast of Vietnam through june we arrived in Siem Reap early in July for a 3 night stay.
After, frankly , being bitterly dissapointed with Vietnam overall, we were dreading our next move.
Thankfully we were booked into an excellent hotel called the Auberge mont Royale.
After the shoddy treatment we had in Vietnam it was so refreshing to find staff so friendly and helpful.
My only problem with the hotel was that the fridge in our room was not cooling properly-I thought " oh no, its Nha Trang all over again!"
So I called reception to get them to have a look at it-within 2 hours they turned up with a new fridgeand in the meantime supplied us with buckets of ice to keep our drinks cold.
The rooms are spacious, the pool is beautiful, and the hotel is only a short stagger from Bar street.
I would not only stay at and recomend this hotel again, I would also reccomend Cambodia over more popular tourist destinations like Vietnam-friendly, honest people and a beautiful country

This hotel is on a dirt road within the downtown area of siem reap .I found this to be a great location to visit the market and bar street after a day at the temples. The hotel itself was what i expected for the price rooms a little dated ,nice pool area and staff friendly without being over the top. There are pristine resorts on the airport road which if you want to lock yourself away from the real Cambodia you can do but if you want a basic hotel within reach of downtown either on foot or tuk tuk this fits the bill.

In my opinion, there are only two good things about this hotel. Firstly it's quiet and secondly its a short walk to Pub Street (Where all the restaurants and pubs are located). I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. for the following reasons. 1st. The staff are not friendly at all...they are simply not interested in their work or you. 2nd. We stayed in the standard room for 3 nights, There was no water supply for at least 3 times during our stay, on top of that there was no hot water. 3rd The toilet sink was kinda choked. 4th Toilet door was poorly designed, do watch your fingers when you close the door, my partner got her finger skinned by the door frame. Our stay in Siem Reap was really good, the cambodians are hospitable, helpful and friendly, It might even be better if we stayed in another hotel.
