“Perfect location - and clean”
Reviewed April 24, 2012

Ta Prohm Hotel are in the middle of everywhere - night market, pub street, old market, and right in front of the river - however their location are not crowded and noisy.

I have a room for 3; and got a huge room with a large sitting area. Space are more than enough to accommodate our room traffic. They clean, bathroom with hot water, cool Air Con, all are in good value for their price.

Breakfast are standard - not much choice : fried rice; white bread, standard margarine, jam, coffee, tea, and juice. However we are very near to psar chas that have cafe/ restaurant that offer other type of food.

The staff are very friendly and helpfull, and always try to make things as "CAN" (really appreciate this!) - although they don't provide room service - but they could provide food from their neighbor restaurant when I need food at night with smile.

Problem only on the sound of the floor wood when other guess walk thru our room - it is annoying.

Room Tip: they only have 3 rooms with 3 permanent beds; this room have more space.

Awesome location right near pub street but far enough away so that its not noisy. Also near night markets and lots of convenience stores close by. Rooms were a good size and clean. Wifi worked in our room. We actually didn't eat breakfast at the hotel (early start to see sunrise at Angkor Wat meant breakfast was not open) so can not comment on that. Staff were happy to hold our bags and also allowed us wait in the lobby until our night bus left at 11.30 at night. Would consider staying here if i come back to Siem Reap again

We stayed in one of the balcony rooms and it was very spacious and cleaned to a high standard. Breakfast wasn't much, usual cold buffet. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Location is good, right in the middle of the Market and a few minute walk to pub street. Could do with a few extras like kettle in the room and a pool would be good too.

This hotel was the biggest surprise of my most recent trip. Build in the French Colonial style, the Ta Phrom abounds with beautiful woodwork, wonderful Khmer style decorations, and exudes a simple elegance from the huge spiral staircase in the lobby, to the large, crystal chandelier in the upstairs bar. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful, and made the three day stay very fun and enjoyable, and the rooms were kept spotlessly clean. My view out the window was limited to the wall of the building next door, but otherwise the room was great, with tv, dvd player, comfortable bed, telephone, modern washroom, fridge with two complimentary bottles of water a day, and large closets with many hangers.

The location of the hotel is pretty much perfect. The Old Market is only one block away to the east, while the Night Market is literally right across the street to the south. Famous "Pub Streeet" is just an easy five minute stroll to the north, and is full of wonderful restaurants and, of course, pubs.

The only drawbacks, which I mentioned to management, was, first, that the hotel does not provide in-room safes, but uses a large safe in the lobby. This is fine for the safe-keeping of valuables, but is just a bit more of a hassle. Also, you are given a plastic card and warned not to lose it, or you will not be able to reclaim your items. The other drawback was that all the rooms containing balconies only contain twin beds, rather then double beds. I was assured by management, tho, that this was going to be changed in the coming year, when some of these rooms will be outfitted with double beds.

My only other comment ... altho I loved the use of wood throughout the hotel, perhaps it is a bit overdone in the hallways, where the wood absorbs and great deal of light and the wood panelling does not seem as pleasing to the eye.

Beyond those two small issues, my stay in the Ta Phrom was great! I could not believe that this hotel had been rated so low on tripadvisor, as it was absolutely the best hotel I stayed in during our three city tour of Cambodia. Great staff, comfortable rooms, fantastic location and a good complimentary breakfast. All this for around $30US/night!

Room Tip: There are about 8 or so rooms that have a door opening onto the second floor balcony. If you do not...

Stayed 4 days, with wife.

Location
- excellent
- 5 minutes walk to Pub Street , Old Market , Night Market
- next to it there is a very large convenience store
- tuk-tuk available at door step round the clock

Cleanliness
- over all clean
- though a musty smell in the room every time I would come back

Quality of stay experience
- Average
- rooms do not have safe :-(
- Breakfast is very poor :-(( ( limited selection, repeated every-day, bread/ cereal etc are of poor quality ). Coffee tastes worse n many a times cold. If you are a breakfast person skip this place. I would go the pub street to indulge in 5USD buffet breakfast ..so that's avoidable 10 USD per day.
- Bathtub is pretty high. I m 5 ft 9 inches, getting in n out was bit challenging. but bathroom was clean. hot water round the clock.
- AC is cold :-)
- Wi fi not very reliable.

Service staff
Nice n smiling staff , always greets you in the morning.
Front desk staff bit grumpy and was not of much help on local info , also requested a late check-out ( 2 our extension ) was bluntly denied though the hotel hardly seemed to have high occupancy.
Inflated prices quoted for arranging a Tuk Tuk. ( 20 USD , vs 12 USD ).

So if you are looking for a clean hotel, with basic amenities , in a great location this is your place.
If you are looking for a bit of luxury , pampering , indulgence or wanna impress ur partner :-) there are better places around.

And the river is no larger than a small canal with little water :-). Don't fancy a walk/ drink by the river!

Room Tip: Check if your room has a window overlooking an open space. stayed in 314. that had one ..read review...

Ta prohm has a great location, it's close to the Market area, walking distance from pub street & all siem reap activity. However the rooms are really small. No view at all. The hotel caters more to tour groups hence independent travellers may feel neglected. Staff speaks limited English thus communication is an issue. Its no frills hotel. However the location makes up for what it lacks in asthetics & hospitality.
