Having seen a lot of photos of Angkor Wat, it doesn't disappoint in real life. It is huge and very tall in the centre. The frescos are fantastic and generally in good condition. It does appear to be quite dark in colour possibly a good clean might make it even more fabulous. Climbing the steps to the top was fine in the off season but we understand that in high season the queues can be very long. Not as atmospheric as other temples in the Angkor area but not to be missed. Don't be surprised if any part is under scaffolding as there seem to restoration projects going on all the time.
