We lucked out and got three nights here for $100/night on Agoda. We stayed during the low season in May/June. The location is between the main market area and Angkor Wat. Just take a short and cheap tuk-tuk ride wherever you want to go unless you want to walk in the heat. There is an excellent pool in the main courtyard, as well as a nice veranda overlooking the pool where you can use their wi-fi and have drinks (high prices unfortunately-- $6-8). The rooms are really clean and nice. They've tried hard to mix a French colonial rubber plantation atmosphere with a super luxury hotel feel. They pulled it off really well and it's a beautiful place to stay. At moments it can seem over the top, as when we checked in and our porter put us in the vintage-style open-air elevator and then hauled our luggage up the stairs as we watched. There were a lot of French guests, and I wondered if they liked this atmosphere and these kind of gestures because it reminded them of the good old days when they had subjugated Indo-China. Still, really an excellent place.

I chose this hotel after pouring through all the Web sites and reviews for all the other high end hotels in Siem Reap. What sold me on this was the beautiful pool in the middle of the complex and the gorgeous French-Indochine decor of the hotel and rooms. Upon arriving I was ecstatic at the views of the hotel first-hand. The hotel's Web site doesn't do it justice - this is a true gem in a precious town. The service is impeccable and the location is the best in Siem Reap -- away from Pub Street, but close enough for a nice walk or a $1-2 tuk tuk ride into town. The hotel is directly across from a beautiful park and at night you can see bats fly overhead- truly memorable. And, I can't forget the extremely helpful concierge and the excellent restaurant, bar and convenient spa where I indulged in many massages at the end of the day.

The only negatives, to be completely honest, is the Internet is extremely expensive and dreadfully slow (you're better off using it in town since there's literally an Internet cafe every other shop) and the spa isn't as plush as I'd have expected in a hotel like this.

Noteworthy features: extremely comfortable beds; lovely turndown service nightly with the most extravagant "gifts" they leave on your bed -- increasing in value every night!; balconies overlooking the pool (you must get rooms with a balcony overlooking the pool - not much more expensive and so lovely); the most luxurious bath amenities; truly generous, friendly and hospitable staff.

We stayed in Victoria Angkor for 4 nights at the start of our honeymoon - we loved it!
1. Service - the staff were great, always very friendly & helpful, including reception, restaurant & cleaning staff - everyone was so warm & helpful, and not in a fake way.
2. Room - we loved our room - comfortable bed, nice bathroom, balcony overlooking the beautiful saltwater pool. Rooms were always very clean. Rooms cleaned in morning with an evening turn-down service including free nightly gift!
3. Location - in Siem Reap town - 7 km to Angkor temple complex (about as close as you can get really) - and around 10-15 minute walk to Pub street (the main street for restaurants & Pubs)
4. Amenities - great pool; good food in restaurant; great free breakfast; free Wi-Fi in lobby/bar; good Happy Hour specials (2 for 1) in bar

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here & would highly recommend it!

Excellent room, reasonable price, gorgeous grounds and pool, spa, cocktails, and sumptuous breakfast. What an excellent place to stay while touring Angkor Wat and other temples in the area. The hotel provided a tranquil haven to which we can return and relax after a hot, hectic day of visiting temples. Our room was very comfortable with a real king bed--not two twins pushed together. There was always a fresh bowl of fruit in the room, and a beautiful arrangement of lotus flowers. There was also coffee and tea-making equipment, although of course the coffee was instant. The bath products were lovely--I especially loved the body lotion, which smelled of combo of ginger and citrus. The staff was very friendly and caring. I would stay here again.

Our stay in Cambodia began in Seam Reap (6 nights)/Phom Penh - Raffles (2 nights)/Veranda, Kep 6 nights (see other hotel reviews) In Seam Reap we stayed at the Victoria Angkor Hotel, which we loved. We stayed in a deluxe room on the first floor overlooking the swimming pool. There were tea/coffee making facilities, robes, and slippers in the room, also fruit daily. They also supplied toothbrush, soap, gel, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. The restaurant seating is either inside or outside overlooking the lovely swimming pool, which is the centre piece of the hotel surrounded by tropical trees and plants. The breakfast buffet was very good with a wide variety of food to choose from. The only other meal we had there was a pizza on the day of arrival, which was good, so cannot comment on meals. Beautiful bar area with seating inside and out. Lovely cocktails! Good looking hotel - French Colonial in style. Great, happy, helpful staff, and a quiet retreat after a day sightseeing. The hotel is only a tuk-tuk drive away from some fantastic restaurants. We particularly liked FCC, Karmasutra (Indian), and Viroths (Cambodian). The markets are great - lots of handicrafts to buy. The hotel is also next to the Royal Park, which is nice for a stroll but beware of the bat poo on the middle path from all the bats in the central row of trees!!

The hotel is lovely with a lovely salt water pool as the centerpiece of the facility. We were greeted by the staff in typical asian fashion with a welcome drink while they do the passport thing. The problem being that the open air lobby was about 95 degrees F. and humid as can be. If accustomed to these climates, fine, but for us it was too much. Many of the Siem Reap hotels may not be as beautiful but have fully air conditioned public spaces. The rooms are nice and clean and the breakfast buffet was plentiful, served indoors with seating on a lovely terrace outdoors with some indoor air conditioned seating available. Location is perfect.

Internet was a challenge ane we actually had to change rooms because of problems "inside the walls". The staff is most pleasant but has quite a relaxed attitude towards fast service, something we are more accustomed to in southern europe than asia. The other thing to be aware of is that the hotel caters to tour groups. We shared our first two days with a boisterous group of French speakers. Next time we certainly won't visit in April (hottest month of the year) so I imagine we would stay here again.

The staff were outstandingly helpful, friendly, warm, welcoming...without exception. The hotel itself is stunning yet warm and comfortable. The wonderful inner courtyard pool was such a treat after touring in the very hot and humid weather. The breakfast was perfect and we had an excellent lunch as well. The only reason I rated the hotel room less that great was that it was somewhat dark with heavy curtains (keeps out the heat I suppose), and that the wood in the bathroom (floors, counters) was looking tired. However, the room was still lovely and comfortable.

The FCC was a good place to eat, although not inexpensive, and is nearby. Even better is to go to "Pub Street" in the Old Market area, a $2 tuk-tuk ride. Highly recommended are Karmasutra, an Indian place where we had one of the best meals of our 4 week trip, and the Red Piano: good inexpensive food and you can sit on the upper level for great people watching.
