Angkor Wat is one of the 7 modern wonders of the world and a stay at La Residence is a perfect complement to a visit to Angkor. General Manager Pascal Deyrolle has transformed this Orient Express Hotel into an oasis of refinement for any Angkor traveller. Your are transported back to French colonial Siem Riep but with all the modern refinements of a modern day hotel. You can actually access the Internet without a problem..
La Residence has a stunning swimming pool and lush gardens, a full service spa and a cuisine that features both elegant French dishes as well as a broad variety of local Cambodian food. The warmth of the Cambodian staff is evident the second you arrive.
La Residence is a great experience. Don't miss it

A great place to stay when in Siem Riep, tucked away in small tropical walled gardens with plenty of water features and a nice pool this, is an oasis away from the heat and bustle of the Temple complex.
The service is amazingly good, the food excellent (we booked a full board package with a great choice of menus and options) and the rooms stylish and comfortable. The only downsides were small balconies and no views from the rooms (mainly foliage) but this was hardly an issue when you just wanted to relax after a hard day templed out!
The Angkor Temples are awesome and well worth the visit (too many people at Angkor What aside!) and this is a very good way to pamper yourself while doing that, adding to the whole experience of the trip, definitely recommended.

We stayed at the Residence in December and we had a mix feelings on the property.
The hotel ground is nice and the rooms are comfy. But for the price we found it way over priced at all the service that we used: Spa, guide and tour, even the food at the Dining room is pricey. The internet is slow and unstable (it is apparently a problem in Cambodia). We were surprised also that the Bar was not air conditioned, beside the restaurant there is not a public place with A/C.
The staff English should be better for this category of hotel.
We just felt that it is not because it's nice product that they can charge their clients ridiculous price.
Overall we had a good stay but beside the room, I wouldn't use any of their service that you can find up to 70% cheaper in town.

My partner and I stayed in the hotel last month. We spent a short week there.
First, when we got into the hotel, we were delighted by beautiful decoration of the hotel. It's not big hotel but, it seemed made with wood and local stone surrounded by big trees, beautiful garden, pond withfished and lotus. It was a very charming and exotic hotel for us.
All staff are very kind and welcome. We liked the large colonial style room with a huge stone bath tub. The TV was quite old but we enjoyed i pod station in the room. Everything in the room was tidy and clean, very charming.
We had a great dinner in the garden with lovely service from the restaurant staff. They were really nice people with beautiful smiles.

What we like the most: Spa, It was an 'wowable spa'. There were private jacuzzi and sauna.swimming pool....
My partner took a facial massage, I took 4hands massage by 2 beautiful male therpists. ( ;

What we doesn't like the most: No direction signs, small business center.

After spending a week in 4.5 star hotels in Vietnam, I was simply not prepared for the presentation and quality of La Residence. Staff were very courteous and helpful.

We had a pool facing room and mixed our three day stay between visiting Angkor Wat with a multi-day pass, basking around the pool, and massages and eating.

The hotel is well positioned a short wal from the markets and restaurant precinct and close to Angkor Wat..

I was a little concerned when we first got there that it was swarming with police but found out that it had a number of national dignitaries at the restaurant.

If I had any criticism, it would be that the wireless internet was a little patchy - but if that meant more time scaling relics or having a drink by the pool, thats fine with me.
