“A Charming Escape”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

After a 24hr journey we were greeted with a warm welcome and cold flannels and drinks. Our room is beautiful and well sized, the staff are very efficient and friendly. Dinner was lovely and given we were tired we shared a main mixed sample dish which was no problem at all. Returning to our room that night we found a refreshing flask of herbal tea. Breakfast starts at 5 which is great for the sunrise visits to the temples or you can take a packed breakfast.

The pool area is very relaxing and the salt water pool ismperfectmso much nicer than the usual chlorine laden pools.

Overall a gem with a unique and personal feel. Can't wait for our next three nights here.

The hotel, spa and pool provide a wonderful oasis amidst the sweltering heat and tourbuses of Siem Reap. The small touches like cold wet towels on arrival each day made a surprising impact. You can certainly find comfort and style more affordably but if money is no object then this hotel is the way to go. The traditional Khmer massage at the spa was wonderful and the morning instruction by a local monk was fascinating. Great breakfast buffet but for the stature and price of an Orient Express hotel the dinner should have been better - traditional Khmer flavors were watered down. I have read the glowing reviews of the traditional Khmer dance show and agree that the costumes and lead dancer are wonderful, but the show - behind the walls of a luxurious hotel for a small collection of diners - felt a bit off. As attentive as the staff was, few spoke much English or French. I would give 4 and a half stars if I could.

My husband and I stayed at La Residence for 2 nights while we were visiting the various temples in Angkor Wat.( February 23-25, 2013). The buidings are elegant in a traditional Thai like style ,in a quiet , serene atmosphere with lots of greenery and water gardens.. The hotel is relatively small and intimtae with just 3 floors. The rooms are huge with huge tubs as well. Our first floor bedroom overlooking the gardens had floor to ceiling glass windows overllooking a small patio and greenery behind it . There is a long pool in the center of the hotel and there is a spa as well. We used the bar upstairs on both nights and dined at the restaurant on our last evening. We had the 7 course menu which was one of the best dinners we had during our cruise to Southeast asia. If you want to splurge in Siem Reap, this is the place.

The entrance to this majestic hotel tell everything. You can feel the warmth and kind hospitality as you step into the hotel. The staff are so friendly and the service is superb. A cool towel was cordially served to each guest and followed with a cool welcome drink.
The lobby is so beautifully designed and decorated with all the rustic teak wood pillars and wooden panels. The garden is well well maintained and landscape is magnificent with a elongated swimming pool. All the rooms have a nice pool view, properly layout and beautifully decorated albeit a little old fashioned in designed.
The bed turn down service was really good and very efficiently done by very polite staff.

Thoroughly enjoyed staying in the Residence D'Angkor as part of a honeymoon trip. Staff are friendly and, although there was a slight language barrier, I found almost all of the staff very capable and communicative. The food was good and the room (poolside second floor) very nice. The baths are enormous and the room itself spacious. We organised the trip through Khiri Travel who were fantastic although, as our trip was all inclusive and pre-planned, we didn't use them for guiding and trips in and around Siem Reap.If you are doing Siem Reap on a budget this is not the best choice although it provides great comfort in the centre of town and very near to the night market. Would definitely recommend it.

This is a beautiful facility with get a poolside room with a view. Treat yourself to a visit to the spa. Breakfast and lunch are fine if a bit pricey. Our BBQ prawns were fair and expensive fo dinner in Siam Reap...

We wanted to stay at the Aman but had to stay here over New Year's. Spent 3 nights using the hotel as our base to tour the myriad of temples. After staying at some incredible hotels in Vietnam, I was a bit let down by La Residence d'Angkor. It's a small hotel but felt quite cramped. The bathrooms were a bit worse for wear and dated. The tub had some serious rust stains. The service was so-so and the food fine. There was a bit of a language problem often with the staff trying very hard to understand our requests. The managers in residence were very personable (Karin) and made a tremendous effort to greet every guest personally and ensure our stay was satisfactory.

Room Tip: Request an upper floor room overlooking the pool.
