“The Staff were terrific”
Reviewed December 19, 2008

We really loved our room at the Raffles which, to our great delight, came with a daily fruit basket and unexpected little gifts, and was frequently made up with toiletries generously replenished throughout the day. We relished the old world charm (the older the better) but with the usual modern bath amenities, the large inviting swiming pool and the food. Special accolade must be given to the warm, efficient and genuinely helpful staff and the affable hotel manager Richard Yap, all of whom contributed to our memorable stay. Perhaps a live band would be nice though...

The Raffles d'Angkor Grand is a wonderful hotel in Siem Reap if you are lured by old world charm. This is by no means a modern hotel, however the charm of the people and the property make it a relaxing destination.

It seemed as if most staff members took the time to memorize our names as they were uttered frequently by people that we had not even met!

We thought the best part of our stay was the Amrita Spa! It was amazing...as were all of the staff there (remembered our names). The spa services and treatments were so great, that we took advantage of it with a 90 minute massage everyday! The trained massuers provided treatments that we'd be lucky to have in the States (and at half the price).

We were upgraded into a Jr. Suite, which was comfortable. We weren't blown away by the food however. We ate at just about every restaurant (including the poolside terrace and the fine dining restaurant) and the food was always rather bland. Even the 'authentic Cambodian' cuisine served in the fine dining restaurant seemed as if it was toned down for non-adventurous tourists. It was a shame because you could tell that the potential for flavor was there, given the pedigree of the kitchen staff -- perhaps the chef had been instructed to hold back.

All-in-all, definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay amidst old world charm.

We recently visited Siem Reap to see the ancient temples of Angkor Wat. We heard the Raffles was superb in accomodations. That is an understatement. Their service was the best I've had in 40+ years of travel. Their staff assisted us in every way. The restaurant was amazing as well as the service. The driver (Dara) was extremely courteous, safe, and provided us with cool water after each of our temple visits. He would wait for us at the opposite end of the temple complex, which allowed us not to backtrack (and poop out), thus we were able to get the most out of our trip. This place is worth every penny!

I had only one night to spend in Siem Reap, so I chose the best hotel I could think of. The Raffles Grand Hotel more than lived up to my expectations. The staff was extremely helpful, the food was excellent, and the room was very comfortable.
An important extra: I had to check out of my room after breakfast, but the concierge informed me that I could use the Spa to shower and change following my morning tour. That was especially refreshing. I spent the rest of the afternoon by the pool before catching my ride to the airport. I had been looking forward to seeing Angkor for fifty years. The experience was fantastic, and the Raffles certainly added to it.

Definitely not as well kept as the Raffles in Singapore. The rooms are a little dated, the furniture does not match the room decor. That said, the rest of the hotel is simply fantastic. The staff (from the Front Office Mgr tp the bell boy) are super friendly. They greet you everytime, and ask how is your day. They make up your room 3x a day! The pool is big and inviting, especially after a day of walking at the ruins. The lift is quaint and interesting. The food is above average, and since this is the Raffles, the price is a little high. Will stay there again!

Staying at this hotel transports you back to colonial times. The hotel has an elegant feel and the staff is very accommodating. The room was spacious and clean. Pool was also very nice and relaxing after sightseeing. The restaurant at breakfast is extremely busy and filled with tour groups. Also dinner was very crowded and rushed, not very enjoyable to dine at the hotel.

Stayed at the hotel for 4 nights at the beginning of August. Overall found the experience fantastic. From the minute we arrived until we left the customer service was totally outstanding and the ambiance of the hotel awsome. The room was very well appointed and contained everything you would expect of such a high class hotel. The breakfast buffet was lovely with a fantastic choice including champagne!. The hotel was very quiet and we had the massive swimming pool to ourselves at one point which was lovely. Do go to the elephant bar as the decor and standards of service there are extrodinary (try the happy hour!). Overall the hotel is expensive (similar price to in UK) but we thought definately worth it. We ate only 1 lunch at the hotel and it was lovely. For a couple of dollars (US) you can get a moto taxi down to pub street in the town and there are loads of restaurants there at a fraction of the price.
