“"Out of Cambodia"”

Super charming place to stay. it's the oldest hotel in Siem Reap, which only seems fitting given the age of the temples you're going to visit. The interior of the hotel reminded me of the movie "Out of Africa" - the carefully chosen details make this place special. Probably most unexpected was the quality of the food. It was fantastic.

Temple viewing: we arrived on Friday around noon and stayed 2 nights, leaving Sunday mid-afternoon flight back to Bangkok. This was an adequate amount of time, as it's easy to get templed-out. This schedule gives you time to visit temples on Friday afternoon, all-day Saturday, and then a few more Sunday morning. They're all quite close, so it's easy to get a good variety. We saw 9 temples in 48 hours, and it didn't seem rushed at all. We booked a car/guide from the hotel, and they were both great options, as the guides know which temples to visit to avoid the crowds.

The hotel is a very quick tuk-tuk ride to Pub-street, which has great restaurants. Siem Reap reminds me of China 20 years ago; it's on the cusp of being over-developed. Get here before it changes!

I certainly felt that I was in a Raffles Hotel, the white building, the doorman remembering your name (and everyone else's), the service, the quality of the bed linen etc. It has an understated 'chic' about it from the decoration and furniture. I had two rooms while staying for just under a week, the first was very generous in size in an old world charm decor. With a balcony overlooking the garden. The only complaint I would have is the way the toilets flush - I did read about this in previous comments- its best to close the lid when flushing and not think about it! I was moved to a villa near the pool due to a different plumbing problem in my room. If you can, try a villa, it was rather special. The pool is a great size, but unfortunately not enough shade with either trees or umbrellas for the hot, hot, hot sun. Being in the villa helped as they come with covered balconies. The pool attendants do their best to keep people like me cool, with fresh drinks, towels, offering to clean the sunglasses. The food I tried in the various restaurants was amazing ,from the local fair to some Australian lamb. The cooking class was fun, it included a trip to the local market (which compared to Phnom Penh market is not so rich in produce or charm). It was defiantly a great hotel to come back to after spending time exploring the magnificent sites of Siem Reap, cool, elegant and inviting. Which was capped off with wonderful people that work here, committed to service and trying very hard to meet ones needs.

My hushand and I stayed here for three nights and we enjoyed staying in this beautiful oasis in Siem Reep. The service and the staff were terrific - they were all very cordial everyone seemed to know our names. The old colonial style is very welcoming and charming and they have a magnificent pool. The massages at the spa were wonderful - we booked twice. We got upgraded to a beautiful suite - which was much appreciated. However, the only setback we found is that the bathrooms need a major updating. The old world feel and look is lovely and should be retained - but the plumbing does not work well as you have to wait a while to get the hot water running while you are standing in the shower. Other then that, it is a wonderful place to stay.

Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the character of this hotel. It is not grand and exotic in the new style but celebrates an old era where things were more slow and graceful even the lift is original, it made me feel like going back in time 100 years. The service was very attentive and the food in the restaurants was excellent. I have a great liking for champagne breakfasts so I was delighted when I saw the bottles in the ice buckets. The grounds were very pretty and the hotel was within easy reach of shops. The Angkor Wat Temple was also quite close, that of course, is a most incredible place.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 4th floor overlooked the pool and gardens which was a pretty setting particularl...

It' s a grand old hotel with all the heritage, etc and the rooms are comfortable, and period correct

great service. the fine dining restaurant on site was also excellent, as was the spa services provided.

it is also a perfect place to rest and unwind after hiking around the amazing but tiring Angkor ruins.

however, you also need to be realistic. This is very high end for Siem Reap, but if you are expecting something similar to say the Sofitel Metropole in Hanoi, Raffles Hotel in Singapore, or Oriental in Bangkok, you will be sorely disappointed.

Having had a poor first night at another hotel in Siem Reap, i arrived here hoping my short break in town could be salvaged - and it was.

Everything about this hotel is elegant!

Staff are first class and i never fail to be amazed that everyone knew my name wherever i went in the hotel.

The pool at this hotel is huge and a great place to chill out on a hot afternoon. Also serves great food - service as with the rest of the hotel was flawless.

My room was is the main hotel building it was large, well equipped and spotlessly clean with a nice view out of the front of the hotel.

Breakfast buffet was extensive and was exactly what was required before a day of sightseeing.

Can say enough good things about this hotel, yes it is expensive (espeically by local standards) however for me it was money well spent.

If i ever return to Siem Reap i will be sure to stay at the Grand Hotel.
