“Fantastic, Beautiful location”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

The rooms were quite large and the decor was nice. The service was good and the grounds were well kept. The pool was nice but a bit cold. There were many places to eat and the breakfast was great with a good variety of foods. There was a special cultural dance with Cambodian native costumes which was very nice. Everyone at the hotel was very helpful. We wanted to visit an orphanage that put on a show every evening and the concierge set up a tuk tuk for us to get there and get back to the hotel. There were also little complimentary gift for us to take home. All in all it is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: I had a room facing the back of the hotel but it seemed very quiet.

Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor and your kind comments about our rooms, food and service. We are happy to hear you got to experience the traditional “Apsara” dance performance during your stay with us, which forms an integral part of Cambodian culture. As a part of our commitment to the local community we do support several orphanages in the local area, and we are very pleased we could help arrange transportation to your evening show at an orphanage. We sincerely hope that your surprise gift can help you remember us for a bit longer, and return to us during your next visit to Siem Reap! – Fabrice Ducry/General Manager

We loved this resort in Siem Reap. Our room was quite large with a lovely view of the grounds. The decor was very fitting for the area. Service was perfect as far as we were concerned. Our meals were excellent and the small bar in the lobby had the best drink special. And as others have mentioned the small surprise gifts were a fun surprise and a nice souvenir to take home as a memento.

The service was phenomenal, from the greeting at the airport to the check in process, to getting settled in our rooms, the Sofitel did not disappoint. There were several gifts sent down throughout the 4 day stay. And for the first couple of days it was almost as if we were the only two guests at the hotel. There was one day where the buffet was running out at the tail end of 9am, which was not a surprise given how few people were actually in the hotel, and once or twice there were slip ups which I would attribute almost entirely to miscommunication, and the power went out a couple of times in our room, but they're really small issues that can happen anywhere. The price of the room itself is fantastic, especially when Sofitel is running the pay 2 stay three night deal. And stay we did.

Service at this hotel for the rooms are almost too rapid. Call down for a shaver and it's at your door in 5 minutes. Ask for an ice bucket, it comes with champagne glasses and a tray. The Spa was so fantastic that we went there twice in our 4 day stay. The first time on their special offer So Invigorating Spa Treatment, which was half off. A very well spent 40 USD indeed! We also tried out the Duo Combo, which is conducted over the course of three hours, with your own private sauna, steam room and other fantastic spa facilities. The food here is good, but when you're in Cambodia, do try out the good French food as well as the Khmer cuisine, the concierge is knowledgeable and ever so polite and willing to help.

Room Tip: This hotel has a luxury and Superior wing. I stayed in the Luxury wing which was nearer to the pool...

Thank you for staying with us and for taking time to share your experiences on TripAdvisor. It is just fantastic to hear that you describe our service as phenomenal. This is the kind of feedback that truly makes the whole team proud - I will personally see to that your generous words get passed on to the entire service team. We are also very happy to hear that you enjoyed our recently inaugurated So SPA to the extent that you were there two times. Definitely a great source of motivation for the new spa team. Thank you for your feedback regarding the minor miscommunication incidents with our hotel ambassadors, power shortage in your room and lack of items at the breakfast buffet. I will address these issues directly with the service team and maintenance department. We very much hope that you will return to us during your next visit to Siem Reap and show you yet another phenomenal time. – Fabrice Ducry – General Manager

The hotel grounds are a perfect example of french colonialism architecture. The restaurant was well equiped to handle the large number of visitors that it receives. At no point did the service quality suffer. We also enjoyed the cultural dancing presentation, the costumes were beautiful. We especially enjoyed the gifts that were left in our room every day (e.g. spices, scarfes).

Stayed here recently for four nights and cannot fault it. Staff, amenities, convenience, location and the resort itself exceeded my expectations. And the pool is awesome complete with swim up bar!! Staff deserve a special mention, they all could not do enough and seemed genuinely happy to look after us!

Room Tip: We stayed on third level which was excellent. Not all rooms have balconies tho, I recommend a balco...

This hotel features the most beautiful garden & lilly ponds which make you feel at peace no matter how busy your day may have been. The rooms are large, light & very well appointed. The staff are a stand-out. Unobtrusive yet always there to help you with any request, large or small. The staff add to the feeling of peace & well being. The location of the hotel is also good. Far enough away from the crowds but still close to Angkor Wat, pub street & all the other attractions of Siem Reap.

Room Tip: I like rooms on the ground floor with a view of the garden & the lilly pond. A bacony is nice to...
