“A wonderful resort at Angkor Wat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2012

This 5 star hotel delivers in almost all areas. The hotel rooms are spacious with all the amenities. The staff is gracious and courteous, in typical Cambodian fashion. The food in the restaurants is average to above average. The staff a speaks English fairly well, but there is difficulty in communicating with the wait staff. They frequently brought some meals well before others so that diners ended up eating at different times. The bar was outstanding and quite comfortable.
The golf course was adequate but not up to North American standards.
Overall I would highly recommend this resort.

Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor and your kind comments about our facilities and our Ambassadors. We appreciate that you pointed out some concerns about the food delivery. This enables us to re-evaluate our services and consistently improve. We have recently strengthened the ground keeping Team with a new Super Intendant for our Golf Course and are confident to see major changes in the upcoming 6 month. Some areas such as the greens have already gain on quality and speed… no more excuses not to score well! We hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back soon…

Our tour stayed at the Sofitel while in Siem Reap. It is at the north edge of town, so closer to Angkor. It is a lovely property with a central lake with lotus pads. The staff is friendly and responsive. Rooms are large is a little dark, from no overhead lights. The rooms on my floor are all outside rooms on the central garden. Breakfast has a wide variety of tasty choices. Internet is free. You get a password at the desk for "24 hours", which if you sign off when not using it results in 24 hours of service (not just a day). The evening buffet and Cultural show is spectacular and not to be missed.

Spectacular park-like property, beautiful pool and extremely polite and helpful staff. Great breakfast buffet and evening entertainment. Great rooms and bedding.
We were surprised that the garden and pool area were free of mosquitoes - no bug spray needed, but maybe that is a seasonal issue. One tiny issue: the tile steps to enter the pool were very slippery. Be careful!
Our only real problem was the guilt of staying in a 5 star luxury hotel after visiting the villages and farms where the folks lived in medieval conditions without sanitation. Bring lots of small $US bills and school supplies to give out to the children. Spread the wealth a little.

Sofitel has a big beautiful garden. It provides a peaceful and relaxing environment.

Service: very good. after checking-in, a receptionist will lead you to go through the garden and show you into your room. Conceige desk people are very helpful. You can easily book a local tour guide and a turk-turk with them.

Room is nicely decorated with wood floor. Size of the room is average, not very big, but certainly not small.

Buffet breakfast is very good. And so is lunch and dinner! Very fresh, tasty and nicely presented.

The hotel is not located in the center of the town. You need to take a turk-turk to market street or restaurant street. Since the town is not big and price of turk-turk is very low (usually just 1-3 US dollars depending where you go), the location is not a problem at all.

All in all, it's very nice choice, good value for money you paid.

Stayed for 4 nights in a large room in this beautifully landscaped resort. The pool and poolside cafe was a great afternoon break after a long morning of sightseeing. The breakfast buffet was included, very good and expansive. But it did get crowded at peak times and was noisy. There are tables to sit outside, but it was a little too hot and humid when we were there. It is just outside of town, and convenient to take a 10 minute tuk-tuk ride into town for some delicious restaurants.

Absolutely made welcome from the moment we entered- the gardens and the pool area is kept immaculate and beautiful touches with statues in the gardens and pool area. has lovely water areas and ponds. The Buffet Breakfast is terrific - everything you could wish for.
The staff are lovely and speak good English. The room lovely and very comfortable bed.
They are very helpful with your touring and will tell you how much you should pay for transport.. We loved the swim up bar and the food area at the pool. Food is inexpensive for a five star hotel and I would give it more stars as one of the best hotels we have stayed in and would go all that way again just to have a week of relaxing round the pool.

Room Tip: All the rooms lovely but overlooking the garden or the pool.

We have stayed at this hotel twice. With a 7 year old and 14 year old it is perfect. Both times we stayed in a poolside room. The pool is wonderful and really the biggest draw for us. Also the evening Aspara Dancer show is free and very good. The breakfast buffet that was included in our package was delicious. We found the Khmer people working there to be friendly and warm. On our last trip in December we left our 7 year old with a sweet caretaker who works on the housekeeping staff. She took him swimming, played with him, and they ordered room service. He enjoyed his day with her. Also we were amazed that one of the restaurant managers remembered us from our previous trip almost 2 years prior. Very friendly.
