“Beautiful home, friendly family & adorable pets”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

The BEAUTIFUL property is a short bike ride from the temples and downtown Siem Reap. You can borrow a bike from the house, it was included with our accommodations, in my case, as was breakfast. A friend and I stayed in the larger of the room options and it accommodates 3 people comfortably: 1 queen size bed +1 single and is equipped with 2 standing fans. (no air conditioning). The bathroom is rather comfortable in size and kept very clean.

Thomas was very helpful in answering all of our questions and helping us schedule TukTuks when necessary. The TukTuks arranged by him are only about a dollar or two pricier than the ones you can haggle down on the street but you get the added service of having them pick you up at your doorstep, they know exactly where the homestay is, they are very trust worthy and punctual so all in all it's really worth extra buck(the most I paid was about 12$ for a few multi stop errands the TukTuk driver accompanied me to do in town for a few hours). Channa (Thomas's wife) is super sweet and a great cook, you can ask to have her cook you dinner or lunch for an additional charge, the meals provided by her are also pretty comparable in price to things you will find in town.

Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this place. I personally love children and pets so I was not bothered by laughing and playing children and the occasional crying baby at all, in fact I found it to be quite nice to interact with them. The 2 little girls and the 8month baby boy were an absolute delight, however, I would say keep that in mind if you are thinking of booking here. It is a family home an they have young children so if that isn't your cup of tea you may want to rethink it.
...But if you don't mind a little giggling in the background then you will surely enjoy your stay at Channa's :)

Room Tip: The bigger suite is connected to the other rooms in the house which are used by the family as well a...

I had a wonderful time at Channa's homestay. The whole family were so welcoming and friendly... I really did feel like a part of the family for my stay. I found there was a perfect balance of time spent with them and time relaxing enjoying holiday time. They even lent me a push bike so that I could ride to Ankor Wat which was only ten minutes up the road. It was nice to be just out of Siem Reap but also still close enough to ride into on the push bike. It was great after a long day exploring to come home to Channa's delicious cooking and the local knowledge given was invaluable. Also amazing was Sochea (yean_sochea@yahoo.com 855 12841065 or 855 887185576) the Tuk Tuk driver who is recommended by the home stay. I used him on several days for my longer missions and evenings out in Siem Reap. It was reassuring to have someone like him driving you from A to B given the craziness of the local traffic conditions. I'm most grateful for my Whole travel experience at Ankor!

In December,2012,we stayed in their superior room for several nights. Channa's Angkor Homestay is a hidden magical garden. The whole family is really warm and friendly. The morning and evening talks with Thomas is really inspiring. He is a really intelligent man. Channa made us feel at home. She cooked us great Cambodian food. The best food we ever had in Siem Reap. The two girls are cute and curious, super sweet.
Their place is literally inside of the park, beautiful and spacious. Our room is very big, with soft bed and clean sheets. It's always very cool and comfortable in the evening. It's far away from all the city noises , but with their bikes we can get to the city within 15 minutes. exactly what we wanted. Sometimes you can see fireflies at night. Listening to the bugs and feeling the cool air in the evening make you feel so peaceful.
What really wonderful was our family came later and stayed in another hotel. Thomas invited them for dinner. We had great food and a lot of fun.
We definitely recommond their place. If there is a chance, we will definitely go back to their place, also to meet their cute baby boy(he was in mom's tummy when we were there).

We stayed in the superior room for three nights after being recommended by a fellow traveller who stayed there before. We feel lucky to have found this hidden gem and would gladly recommend it to anyone who wants to feel closer to Cambodia, the culture and the nature. This is one of the best accommodations I've ever stayed at.

The communications beforehand were clear and informative, and Channa provided us with delicious, nutritious, home made food every day. The bed is comfy, bathroom clean and the children are absolutely lovely.

Renting a bicycle and cycling through Angkor was magnificent, a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life.

We discovered Channa's Angkor Homestay by lucky chance when searching online for accommodation close to Angkor Wat. Despite the short notice of our arrival, Thomas and Channa were generous, hospitable and incredibly kind. They arranged bikes for us to use, adjusted their menu's to cope our 2 month trip. Playing with Anita and Amanda, Thomas and Channa's young girls, was an absolute pleasure - they are amazing, dynamic and truly multi-cultural children. We cycled every day to explore the various temples of Angkor Wat Archaeological Park and it was a joy to be independent, free to visit the ruins off the beaten track and avoid the crowds. Coming home to Channa's incredible food every evening was the icing on the cake.
Channa's Angkor Homestay is a house that Thomas designed himself and it is beautiful and comfortable, a wonderful mix of traditional and modern. We stayed in a small bungalow/hut in the garden as we were on a tight budget but there is also a beautiful room in the house. Everything was prepared with love, and kept beautifully clean. The lotus flowers were in full bloom in the garden and the stars were so bright overhead, being away from any light pollution. The tranquility of the environment added to the peace and relaxation. The ability to awaken just before sunrise and cycle out to the ruins in the cool of the early morning added to the experience!
I am so grateful that we found this hidden gem in the heart of the Angkor Archeological Park and I recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the magic of Angkor without the busy-ness of the tourist scene in Siem Reap!

In 2011 I worked as a volunteer for 5 weeks at an orphanage in Siem Reap. I was fortunate to be offered a homestay with Channa and Thomas and their two lovely little girls in their newly built home, located in a beautiful green area between Siem Reap and Angkor Wat. It took me no more than 5-10 minutes by bicycle to reach the center of Siem Reap.

Back at the incredibly beautiful house – which is built according to Cambodian tradition but with modern facilities – Channa and her Danish husband Thomas took good care of me. Channa served splendid authentic Cambodian food and Thomas shared his extensive knowledge of the Cambodian country, people and conditions. I felt very welcomed and at home with the whole family. Homestay with Channa and Thomas means experiencing firsthand modern and traditional Cambodian way of life in a warm and friendly family environment. Believe me – this is what real HOMEstay is all about! I highly recommend it and I hope to visit again as soon as I can.

We spent four nights in Siem Reap in the home of Channa who is Cambodian, her Danish husband Thomas and their two lovely little girls. Their warm welcome and services were friendly and nice. They are efficient and very helpful. The hospitality was great, you are treated like a friend with warm greetings and a smile.
Their house of recent construction is located in an archeological park a few kilometers from the city center. The room was spacious with a comfortable large bed and mosquito net. Modern bathroom with shower, spotless room, towels and laundry services are provided. Delicious breakfast is included and for a small supplement we chose to have our evening meals prepared by Channa, to better share their way of life. Delicious Cambodian meals prepared by Channa who is an excellent cook.
We experienced friendly atmosphere and the spontaneity of the children made it feel like home. The proximity of the Angkorian sites, the tranquility of the location makes it a definite plus if you want to stay away from the busy city but still close to the major sites and activities.
We highly recommend this guesthouse, the Cambodian/European mix gives it an interesting aspect.
