This was our best meal in Cambodia. Very charming huts with outstanding service. My fish amok was absolutely delicious. My mouth is watering as I write this review! The Dutch owner is a very caring man as well.

Thank you for commenting on our new dish on the menu! It is a recipe from our own Khmer chef who told us to trust him and allow him to add this to the menu. Of course we trusted him but reading and hearing from people that his dish is liked really makes him happy! Many thanks for that!

Thank you, especially from Savuth, our chef!

“tremendous service, lovely surroundings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2013

Oh, and the food was good too! We had excellent summer rolls with a great peanut soy dipping sauce beautifully presented, and lemongrass basil chicken, good, and extrema skewers, also good, and awesome French fries. The service was outstanding, the staff even more attentive than any other place we have gone (and that's saying something!). Highly recommend. A bit off the beaten path, tell tuktuk just past green star.very romantic for couples.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and nice words for our staff! All of these comments from the past months have lead to another staff retreat next month... :-) Reading all of the feedback tells us that they deserved their long wished trip to Battambang!

“Lovely ambiance and delicious food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013

We came to Tangram on recommendation of the Haven staff as we arrived there without a reservation (even at midweek, in low season and very early for dinner - before 6 pm - they were fully booked, so DEFINITELY make a reservation if you're looking to eat there!)

Anyhow, on to Tangram...the location is absolutely beautiful. Each table is very private - in its own hut-like area. While we were there with our grown daughter, it would be a very romantic restaurant for couples who want privacy. So very different from the close proximity of tables in even nice restaurants in the US). Since their wait staff has a large area to attend to and don't want to "hover" over you, they have a lantern that you turn on when you have need of assistance - an absolutely brilliant idea! While we had the same server all evening - he was very friendly, had excellent English, and spent just the right amount of time interacting with us - when we were ready to leave and he was busy with a different table, we were able to call for and pay our check promptly and get a tuk-tuk called for us.

The owner also came by twice to check on our experience and our meal and he is also very friendly - Indonesian who grew up in Holland for 20 years and also lived in China and Indonesia before opening this restaurant. He has a great deal of experience in the hospitality industry and it definitely shows. Tangram Gardens is also a socially conscious endeavor, which added to the positive aspects of our experience. They support two different projects in Siem Reap, although I don't recall their names now.

All of our food was very good, from the spring roll starters to the shrimp and pineapple brochettes with fried rice (my dish, although the shrimp wasn't the greatest, so I would probably go the with loc lac the next time around), the beef loc lac that my husband had (delicious) and the veggie burger (my daughter, after living in Cambodia for a year was looking forward to Western food this week). They have both a Western menu and a Khmer menu, with about a dozen items on each menu. We did not have dessert as we were headed to the Phare Circus and a bit pressed for time. We enjoyed every aspect of our visit to Tangram Garden and recommend them highly!

Sarath, your waiter says: THANK YOU!!! It was a pleasure to have talked to you and we are very happy you enjoyed your meal with us. W edo hope you enjoyed the circus. It is highly recommendable! Our son of one year old was for once quiet an entire hour seeing the circus... I guess that also says enough about Phare Ponleu Circus!

Thank you again and we wish you all the best!

“A special place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

We booked here because of the good reviews & we reassured by our guides positive view of the place. The setting is lovely, individual cabanas in a garden setting. The service was prompt & friendly. We asked the owner to recommend dishes & placed our order based on his suggestions. We were not disappointed, all the dishes were good.

“Definite recommendation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013 via mobile

My friends and I went along for my birthday meal and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Atmosphere, food and service were all absolutely fantastic.
The owner of the restaurant, Daniel, also introduced himself to us and told us a little bit about his family and his business and made sure we were all having a lovely time!
The only disappointment came when we were told that they'd run out of all the desserts we wanted to have. Will definitely back though! Well done!

Dear Birthday people! We are sorry for running out of desserts... That usually does not happen so often. A note here is that due to people commenting badly on our coconut pancakes (taking too long to be served) we took thise off the menu. One of those decisions we have to make if it affects peoples experience, how unfortunately that is!

Next time you are in town and come by Tangram, dessert will be on us, just to make up for it! :-)

All the best and thank you again for your nice words!
