“The best hotel and service ever!”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

We just had 3 nights at the Gloria, I wish it could have been longer. I have never encountered such service anywhere. Receptionist Mr Pol - outstanding service and one of the nicest people on the planet. On arrival we were greeted with cold drinks, nibbles, and scented cold cloths (much appreciated after a long hot journey, and this happened each time we returned to the hotel after being out). Then Mr Pol gave us maps and all kinds of info re Temple visits etc and everything we wanted to do was arranged with the utmost politeness and efficiency. The free tuk tuk they provide was a great service and we had many enjoyable trips around Siem Reap with Mr Hong , again always polite and obliging. The room itself was gorgeous. Little tray of sweets and a fruit basket awaiting on arrival. Complimentary water. Each evening when we were out they came in and turned down the bedclothes and placed frangipani flowers on the bed and pillows, along with a lovely bed-time tale of folklore stories. So many little touches that made such a difference. All the staff are so polite and helpful but Mr Pol was the standout. If you are looking for a great value hotel, you would be hard pressed to find any better than the Gloria. It is not in the best of areas, but we had no problems, and the free tuk tuk (tips always appreciated though) made getting around a breeze. I highly recommend the Gloria.

We found this hotel on TripAdvisor and emailed them for a booking, they were prompt to respond, had a free service to pick us up from the bus terminal. The tuk tuk drivers are employees of the hotel and we got the same driver the while time we were there which made things easier. They are very friendly staff and always trying to serve you. We were even invited to the staff party with food and drink to go around!! The rates for the tuk tuk to the temples were very fair as well they organized an Angkor guide for us. They even went the extra mile to greet us with water, nuts and a cold towel when we arrived at the hotel and had night time stories to read placed in the room by the cleaning staff. Very clean rooms, english tv channels and good showers.

I would definitely stay there again!!

My boyfriend and I booked to stay only one night at Gloria Angkor to see how we felt about it. It did not take long at all to feel welcome and end up booking a further three nights.

As soon as we arrived at the Gloria following our bus journey from Phnom Penh,a very friendly member of staff ran to open the door for us and help us with our bags. We were soon greeted with a welcome drink as we filled in the necessary paperwork. We were given lots of information regarding temple tours and alternatives. The staff could not have been more friendly! Although there was no elevator, this did not matter as the staff were very eager to help with our bags.

Our room cost only $20 and included in this rate was....

A very spacious and immaculate room, AC, minibar, free wifi, breakfast, a turn down service and complimentary bottles of water. We found the turn down service a really nice touch!

The hotel have their own tuk tuk drivers who offer a free ride into the town centre every evening! On our first night we received such excellent service and support from our driver (Mr Chhin) that we ended up hiring his tuk tuk services for three whole days thereafter! What an amazing friendly and helpful man!

The only problem that we faced was on our third night, we were wakened by a knock at our door. It was someone looking for a friend in another room. They had the wrong room and after that we were awake all night as the party that they were looking for was obviously in the room above us! :) The next night the noise started again and so we contacted the reception staff. The reception were very apologetic and quickly contacted the owner/manager who was quick to offer many solutions. We were moved to another room, offered a free massage (which we did not accept as we were just grateful for them allowing us to move). The next thing we know, we were offered a complimentary bottle of wine to apologise for the inconvenience (which was so very generous but we also could not accept).

In conclusion, the hotel were so very courteous and willing to help. They obviously think very highly of their customers and want to offer the very best service possible. The service that we received was certainly not 3, but 5 star quality. We would like to thank the Gloria Angkor for such a wonderful stay! We will definitely return.

We stayed one night at the Tanei guest house but disappointed about everything so booked at this hotel and asked for a tuktuk in the morning next day. The tuktuk driver came 7 am sharp with my name on board. From thattime everything was great. Check-in was so smooth and i could feel cambodian hospitality. There was a staff party on the day we checked-in and all guests joined and had fun with the staffs. The service of this hotel is like a 5 star hotel's. Staffs were smiling all the time and extremely helpful. I got a fracture during my stay and the manager, Kim brought traditional Cambodian treatment and my ankle was healed. This hotel is a little bit far fromthe center but it was not a problem. They have free tuktuk in the evening and most people hire a tuktuk or taxi during the day. Breakfast was fairly ok. I really enjoyed my stay here and I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: I stayed at 111 which was at the end of the building. Since it was at the end, the room has two big...

Ok, were to start.... First of all. The check inn was great. A Welcome with cold napkin for your face and a glass of water. Excellent. Very good information and a free tuk tuk service to the center. Rooms very clean and an outstanding service.... The service level of this hotel is the best a have ever experienced in whole asia. BUT...... The last day we arranged a tuk tuk driver to the bus station for our depart to sihanoukville at 7 am. I asked the reception 3 times in advance just to make sure (you know how it goes sometimes) so in the restaurant we had to wait 20 minutes (just 1 other person was there eating) for our breakfast. The guy behind the counter was absolute not listening to our order. Ending up with a breakfast we did not order. We had to eat it because we were in time trouble beacause of the long wait. So i asked the same kid: tuk tuk driver ready right?? The kid was looking suprised..... Oh noooooo please why i thought. So we rushed to the room to get out stuff and head back. Finally down stairs the kid was not doing anithing at all. CALL A DRIVER PLEASE!!! (the first driver they said was sick....SO?? Arrange another one, but anyway we were sure this is an asian way of telling we did not arrange anything) Any way in the end we flgged one down drove like a mad man to the station and were just in time to catch the bus. A excellent stay ended up with a sour taste afterwards. Do i reccomend this hotel. Absolutely yes. I can only hope that the hotel will learn his lesson for the next costumer who has such a problem!

Thank you very much for taking of your busy time to make a comment.

I am very sorry for the confusion about the tuk-tuk to the bus station and am very happy that you were able to catch your bus. I will ensure my staff understands that the morning situation was unacceptable.

After reading your post, you mentioned “it was a bit sour at the end of your stay”. I am sorry that we could not leave you with a sweet ending.

We look forward to seeing you next time you are in Siem Reap so that we can make your trip sweeter!

Best Regards Angkor,

I really was impressed by this hotel! The entire staff treated me as if I was practically royalty and the manager, Mr. Kim was both charming and professional. My roof was extremely clean and I loved how they put fresh frangipani on my bed every night before bed. Although the location is outside of the center, the hotel offers free tuk tuk service to the center from 6 PM. To sum up, a true GEM of a hotel and I heartily recommend it!!!
