During our 11 days in Siem Reap, we repeatedly tried to make a reservation. Because of their enormous popularity they are usually fully booked by mid-day for that night. We almost did not go but finally secured a reservation for our last night n Siem Reap.
Haven is deserving of its reputation. Like many restaurants in SR, it is operated by an NGO and trains young men and women from the street for a career in the culinary tourism sector. One of the things that sets this restaurant apart, is that the training chef is Swiss and world class. This is reflected in the Khmer dishes as well as some classic Swiss items.
Each and every dish was executed perfectly and the presentation was artistic and flawless. This level of quality extends to the front of the house as well. SE Asia is not known for table service, of which I have seen little evidence in my years of travel here. However, the wait staff at Haven is on par with any good Western restaurant.
Plan a couple days early to get a reservation. You will be happy you did.
