“A unique experience”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

After having had a very good vacation in Thailand, we were anxious to see what Siem Reap would be like! And everything around the hotel Privilege Floor was excellent. Everybody was eager to make you feel at home, to think of what you neede, even before you realised yourself. We were especially taken care of by Alex, Anna and Jacky who arranged everything for us - of course also the included advantages such as airport service, private chauffeur, dry cleaning etc - and they did it with enthusiasm, kindness and politeness. We forgot our bathing suites at the balcony, but they were sent to us while we still were in Phom Penh. We have stayed at many hotels, but this one was an outstanding experience. I wouldn't describe the surroundings or location of the Priviledge floor or the hotel that it is located in (the 5-star Borei Angkor Resort & Spa) as outstanding. At the time we stayed the resort was undergoing renovations but this did not impact on our stay. What the Privilege Floor offers is possibly the BEST service that I have experienced in many overseas holidays. We spent 8 days there in January and found the staff and guide that they provided to be faultless. We spent our first 3 days in the Landmark suite and our last 5 days in the Sunset Suite. Both packages i.e the 3 day pass and the driver and guide with the Sunset Suite package were excellent. The rooms were pleasant - although my preference was for the Premier Landmark room which overlooked the pool area rather than the Sunset suite room which had a view of the back gardens of surrounding houses and a balcony that was overlooked by its nieghboring rooms. The staff - Alex, Jacky, Sean, our driver Chmrong and guide Sovann went out of their way to make our holiday the best they could, they were polite and friendly helpful but unobtrusive. There was nothing that would not do for us and sometimes it felt as though we were the only guests in the hotel .... although the hotel was actually full at the time. The facilities provided in the dining area as part of the privilege floor package I thought were really lovely and added to our stay. If I return to Siem Reap I will stay there again without hesitation.

The Privilege Floor at the Borei Resort is something that everbody should have on their bucket list.
It is the most amazing experience, you are truly treated like royalty and every hotel now will not measure up. From the moment you arrive at the airport "Alex" is there to greet you and the amazing journey begins. "Prose" our private driver is there for us 24/7 and we can now truly call him a dear friend. All the staff Jacky, Anna, Domra,Sey, Sokmen made our stay so special we can't wait to come back. Nothing is too much trouble and everyday there is a special gift in your room ( red wine ,white wine, champagne). But overall it's the warmth and sincerity of these amazing people who make it such a "privilege". We will be back thank you again to our dear friends.

We were guests at the Privilege Floor (4th floor) of the Borei Angkor Hotel in Siem Reap for 6 nights. It is an exceptional arrangement with free laundry, a driver each day, free mini bar, happy hour complimentary breakfast and a great room. All the staff at the Privilege Floor were outstanding. They also gave us a local cell phone for our use to call our driver from the restaurant or wherever we were to come pick is up and allowed us like 1/2 hour of calls to the USA. Can't say enough nice things about our experience. The Hotel arranged a guide for the 5 days of Temple hopping as well at a nominal extra free. If you are going to Siem Reap, go to the Privilege Floor and you will be treated like royalty.

I do not say the following lightly; the Privilege Floor is the best hotel we've ever stayed at and both my wife and I have traveled a lot. The fact that we had a (really good) driver named Ley available and assigned to us 24/7 was great - especially when traveling with an 8 month old. We were handed a local cell phone for our stay upon check-in that had all staff numbers in the phone book. The staff assigned to the Privilege Floor (which is the 4th floor of a 5-star resort called Borei Angkor) were also super; particularly Sean and Alex, but also the staff at breakfast and throughout the hotel. The spa was really wonderful and very fairly priced - they even gave us discounts for no apparent reason :-) Pool area is really nice, free mini-bar is a big plus if you feel like a cold beer on the balcony. We are probably extra positive cuz we got a free upgrade to the Royal Suite. But even without that upgrade, the service of the staff and luxury feel of free happy hour cocktails, and the gifts we received in our room almost daily would classify this as a clear 10/10. I'm sure I'm forgetting some +'s (like the obvious ones such as the hotel being perfectly clean, easy to check-in and -out etc. but just a last mention to any Danish readers: Det er ikke en overdrivelse... det er virkelig pengene værd! Man kan bo billigere steder, men tror ikke på man får mere for pengene en Privilege Floor.

The Privilege Floor is an exceptional hotel. As other reviewers mentioned, the package includes airport pickup and return, a driver at your disposal all day, free laundry service, free mini bar with wine and beer, happy hours, complimentary breakfast all day, a beautiful pool and a luxurious room. The staff was extremely helpful and even gifted us a bottle of champagne on arrival and with scarves as we checked out.

We booked the Sunset Package as it fitted our needs perfectly in order to complete a day tour of the temples.

Physical Facilities:

The Privilege Floor consisted of 19 rooms on the 4th floor of the Borei Angkor Resort. There is a separate dining floor for these rooms and extra services are provided. The pool and spa is shared with the 188 rooms of the larger resort. Think of taking the Butler Suite upgrade at upper end All Inclusive resort such as Sandals.com

The largest rooms face west and have a non-discript city view. The major advantage is the large patio with screened swinging day bed to enjoy the sunset. The east facing rooms that overlook the pool only have a small balcony with 2 chairs.

The rooms are full featured including high speed internet but are not flashy or state of the art. Nice features include Cambodian Silk bathrobes, DVD player with a selection of titles on Angkor Wat including “Tomb Raider” to get you in the mood for the temple visit.

One quirk is the light switch in the hanging closet, the sliding doors slide both ways but if you happen to reverse them the light switch does not turn off and you will get an unwanted nightlight through the door slats!

Note that they are refurbishing the entrance to the resort so that there is screened temporary access during the 3 months construction remaining. We did not experience any noise or dust associated with the construction.

Service:

We booked online and were immediately contacted on email by Sean, requesting our flight arrival and departure, and our preferences for time items to include in our temple visit

What sets this hotel apart is the exceptional service, particularly with the Sunset package. We were collected at the airport by Anna whom was exceptionally efficient and whom spoke English well. Within 30 minutes she had our dinner reservation organized.

We both then went for a fantastic massage, also part of our package, that lasted 90 minutes.

Happy hour complimentary cocktails and canapes were provided on the 4th floor 5.30 to 7pm. We were also given a chilled complimentary bottle of French sparking wine to enjoy on our patio.

Our driver, Darra, also spoke english well and we had total access to him for our 30 hour stay. We were taken around in a new air conditioned Honda CRV. He took us downtown for 7.30 dinner and provided us with a cell phone that had his number programmed so that we could call for pickup as we were settling our bill!

The next morning Darra collected us at 8.30 am and we met our excellent guide, Porheng, fluent in both French and English. He was contracted by the hotel for the day, included in our package, but he is independent, send me a personal memo if you wish his contact information.

Having the airconditioned vehicle take us to the various locations was a fantastic respite from the heat, Darra also provided frozen towelletes and ice cold water every time we got back into the car - a God Send!

The “picnic lunch” was a full course Thai meal brought fresh from the hotel at 12.30 pm and served in a gazebo overlooking the temples by one of the 4th floor waiters sent to look after us. he was even able to find an adaptor to recharge my camera battery while we had lunch!

Complimentary 24 hour laundry service was even included in the package.

Although we officially checked out at 10 am we were given a smaller room to shower and change after our day at the temples. This was followed by a tasty set dinner, included in the package, before Darra took us to airport for 9pm. But not before we each presented with souvenir silk scarves!

The truly AMAZING thing was the cost of this package was only a few dollars more what we pay in North America for nicer hotel without breakfast! The hotel is Cambodian operated so it felt very satisfying to support a successful and well run local business.

We would recommend - particularly with the sunset package. More information at the website: http://www.privilegefloor.com/Sunset-Suite
