Jasmine Garden Villa
Ranked #187 of 515 Siem Reap B&B and Inns
Reviewed February 19, 2013

I stayed here as my preferred place couldn't fit me in the entire stay. I don't get the 5 star reviews - evidently people haven't stayed in Siem Reap or elsewhere much for comparison.

Possibly I got the worst room, but still. It was all a bit dingy and old. Nothing special over so many other guest houses at best, but the toilet didn't work in my room. The hot water system didn't work, even if you don't need it. The air con could not be adjusted, but blasted glacial air etc.

Yes, there is a drink on arrival, but it was sickly sweet and many places do this. Yes, the staff are friendly, but this is the norm. Breakfast is included, but the coffee is horrible etc. Bike is free, but it was terrible to ride (and free bikes are common or good bikes cheap to hire). The price isn't that high, but there are many other guesthouses at this price or cheaper.

The garden courtyard is nice, but small. Booking was smooth, but only after waiting for the courtesy tuk-tuk for > 1 hour despite the repeated 'few minutes only' on the phone. It is close to the centre.

In summary, nothing special and for me annoying.

Smooth booking in a busy time ahead of Christmas, very helpful staff, always there to accommodate us and give us advice/help during arranging trip to Angkor Temple, floating villages etc. Stayed three in double bed room with extra bed, no problem, everything prepared, usual breakfast included + appreciated nice welcome (warm towel and tea).
Easy location close to the night market and pub street (10 min walking distance).

The only worse experience was on the way back to Phnom Penh with minivan, rude driver running too fast, not polite at all, hotel should think of different company or travelers using slow, but "safer" bus. On the other side it was not mistake of the hotel, just bad travel agency.

But overall, very good impression!!

Room Tip: always better to try first or second floor.

I spent three nights here and the service they provide is excellent. Great value for money, the bicycle rental, water, tea/coffee and bananas are all included in the price. Nicely decorated rooms that are cool when you arrive back from a hot day out. It's located about 10mins walk from the main town , but has restaurants and bars nearby if you don't want to go into town. I would recommend Jasmine Garden Villa if you like a bit of peace and quiet after a day out. The very friendly and helpful staff is what makes the place.

I spent 4 nights here and really enjoyed my stay. It's in a really quiet location (the only problem is the nearby mosque and the morning call to prayer) and the staff are really friendly and can help with organising tours to the temples and booking bus tickets. The cold towels and tea they give you after a hot day's sightseeing are a nice touch and the room was perfect for my needs

Room Tip: My room (210) was on a corner and was a bit hot as it caught the sun all day. Choose a room that jus...
