“Brilliant service & tour”
Reviewed December 10, 2013 via mobile

Grasshopper organized me a solo tour to Beng Melea for the next day, outside their weekly schedule, when I walked in 4pm asking about the tours. Tour guide Somchay was very nice and friendly and told a lot not only about the temple, but also about Cambodian history, habits, beliefs and people.

“bicycle tour-temples and countryside (two days total)”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

My wife and I wanted an up close, personal look at the Angkor temples and the Cambodian countryside in the 2 days we had in Siem Reap. What better way to do this than by bicycle? We asked our neighbor in Honolulu, who is a tour guide herself (Thailand) for a recommendation, and she was right on the money with Grasshopper. The tours were well planned, informative, and catered directly to our interests and biking ability. Thy and Somchhay were totally professional at all levels, as well as friendly and understanding what we wanted to do and see. There is no way we could have done these tours on our own by bike and to simply go by bus or tuk tuk would have but skimmed the surface of Cambodian life and culture. I know bikes pretty well and I'd say that Grasshopper's were totally up to standard and a pleasure to ride. Lastly, the food (snacks, lunch) were both healthy and refreshing.

“Beautiful Journey”
Reviewed November 28, 2013

We spent great days in Cambodia. Our guide was Chantha, who is a wonderful person and he explained to us everything about the history and culture of Cambodia, in addition to serving us with refreshments and snacks on the bus.
Y él habla muy bien español además de inglés!
Todo muy bien organizado

“Incredible experience with Chamnan”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

The Angkor tour was the final day of a 5 day Slow Road to Angkor bike tour with Grasshopper Adventures, though it is also available as a one-day bike excursion. On the final day in Angkor, we picked up another cyclist and the three of us enjoyed our guide Chamnan's attention.

We immediately appreciated what it's like to be able to get around the temple sites on bike rather than by car or van. We went places no motorized vehicle could traverse, saw things you can only see by bike or on foot. We waited in NO long vehicle queues -- just zipped by all the traffic, and so we were able to see so much more in less time. The biking was fun, a little challenging at times due to the mud. We encountered lots of wildlife (monkeys, cows, water buffaloes) along the paths.

Chamnan's command of the history of the temples as well as the culture and history of Cambodia is outstanding. We had the pleasure of his company for 3 1/2 days and learned so much about a beautiful people and a beautiful country. His English is excellent both in vocabulary and pronunciation. One of the most pleasurable experiences was watching Chamnan's relating to children, who are on the grounds trying to sell postcards and memorabilia to raise money for their families and schools. Chamnan has such a charming way with them as with all the Cambodians we met and with all the tourists. He is a true ambassador of good will. And very funny and entertaining.

Additionally, the driver of the support van, Date, was present about every half hour with fresh fruit snacks, cold water and chilled towels, and we had a luxurious breakfast by the lake and a lunch in town. Chamnan also had a bag of fruit and snacks that he carried into Angkor Wat at sunrise, but they got stolen by a rogue band of monkeys. When we hit an unexpected downpour at one of the rest stops, Chamnan enlisted a vendor friend of his to watch our stuff under a big umbrella, quickly bought some rain ponchos and outfitted us and our bike bags so that we could continue while waterproofed.

Altogether, it was one of my best vacation experiences ever. Chamnan is a truly outstanding guide. If you have the opportunity to request him, do so.

“Best Way to See Angkor Temples”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

My husband and I did the full day temple tour of Angkor on Nov. 15 and loved it. Our guide, Chomnan, was excellent, very friendly and knew a lot about the Angkor sites. After seeing the other ways different tourists saw the park (enormous guided tours in motor coaches), I'm so glad we went this direction. Chomnan knew the routes to beat all the crowds and we enjoyed getting to know the two other travelers in our group. Hands down, this is the best way to see the Angkor Park!!
