Owner description: Grasshopper Adventures offers inspired bicycle adventures of the Siem Reap area and greater Cambodia. Our tours are achievable by all and allow you to not only see a side to the Angkor Temples that many do not, but also to connect with the charming, real Cambodia that lies beyond the temples themselves. Countryside Tours, Introductory Temple Tours and a full day tour to Beng Melea make up our most popular Siem Reap programs. Our tours are family friendly and as the only operator in Siem Reap with specialist children's cycling equipment, we offer a safe and professional experience that families of all ages can enjoy.

We had a half day trip with Mr Chantha booked. Having two young kids, four year old boy and six year old girl, as well as my 60 year old mother in law we just wanted half a day to visit the main temples. Our half day turned into a full day, leaving at 7.15 and not returning until 5 pm, so pretty full on. In that time we visited the three main temples, saw all the main sites, had a very knowledgeable guide, stopped for water, coffee, fruit and a great lunch. We saw angkok wat, angkor thom and Ta Prohm. Nothing was to much trouble for our guide, fetching us water regularly and telling us all the history. We cycled for about 30 km in the heat which was a bit much for my mother in law and Mr Chantha organised a tuk tuk for her and her bike for the last bit. Overall a great tour and fantastic way to see the temples.

Thank Ben I

I took a solo weekend trip from Singapore and wanted to combine some sightseeing and exercise. I had so much fun riding around trails and meeting other people through the tour. It was an unforgettable experience - I went back to Siem Reap a few months later, and revisited the temples with others who were not up for a bike ride. The temples were still amazing, but it was not the same experience without the group from grasshopper.

Sum was our charismatic, energetic and knowledgeable guide who took us on a half-day cycling tour from Siem Reap to Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm (of Tomb Raider fame). The journey was well organised with a perfect balance between off-the-beaten track sandy bicycle trails to well worn back streets to busy roads laden with tourist vehicles taking you to Siem Reap's most famous landmarks. With food and water all included it was an unforgettable tour that gives you a better perspective of not only the grandeur of the old Cambodian kingdoms but also of the way of life for the people living in this special nation, bicycle transport and all! I cannot recommend this tour enough and in particular, our tour guide Sum who embodies the spirit, warmth and friendliness of all the Cambodians we have met so far. Thank you Grasshopper Adventures!

My husband and I took two tours- Biking the Temples and the Cambodian Countryside. Both were amazing- the type of trips that we are going to talk about 20 years from now. On the temple ride, our guide (Mr Chantha) was so knowledgeable, and it felt like he took us to these secret spots- and also quickly fixed my husband's bike when the chain fell off. It was a loooong ride (we did not get back until 5 pm) but it was all flat riding, and Mr. Chantha provided plenty of drinks, food, and snacks.

The Cambodian countryside ride was a bit more difficult, as part of it was on dirt paths, but still flat. The atmosphere was completely different than the city or the temples. I can't remember our guide's name (we didn't get a card from him), but he had a great sense of humor, and was full of stories about growing up in rural Cambodia and living in a monastery that really enriched the experience. As far as planning, this ride was shorter- unlike the temple ride, we were back in time to have lunch in town.

We booked a day tour to bike around Angkor Wat in September 2012 and had an amazing day. If you are interested in seeing the temples but not every little detail, or want to get to places that the hoards of tourists in buses don't go, then I highly recommend booking with Grasshopper. Our guide Sum lead us through the busy streets of Siem Reap and on uncrowded paths around the temples. If we'd had more time we would have booked the trip to Beng Mealea. The bike frames are a bit older but the components are new and in great condition.
