First, there is Lim, one of the nicest, more competent and real hotel clerks I have ever encountered. She made the stay worthwhile. Then, there is the location, close to downtown (a fast tuk tuk or bike ride away) but far from the noise. My room was clean, lovely, with a nice view and fabulously air conditioned. Breakfast (included in the price) offered a nice selection of local and western fare, and it was always fresh. The pool - ah, the pool - I spent many a sweltering afternoon in there, when it was too hot to go temple trampling or bar hopping.

Besides Lim, who seemed to be always there, all the staff were gracious, attentive and highly responsive. And don't let me forget the spa, where I got a terrific foot massage as well as a full body massage (the masseuse used a technique new to me - at points I thought she was doing handstands on my back).

I'd recommend it to anyone going to Siem Reap. You feel at home. The price is right. The size is perfect. And everyone there will treat you like royalty. An amazing find.

We spent one night at the Frangipani when we first arrived in Cambodia and went back for another 5 nights a week later. Apart from the hard bed like all the hotel beds we have slept on and big pillows we were very comfortable. The best thing was an invitation to the staff New Year party where all staff and guests were offered a wonderful barbecue and beer and soft drinks on the house. The staff appeared to be appreciated and happy and were very generous in their inclusion of the guests in their party. We loved the pool area and access to water in the dining room to fill our water bottles was an added bonus. We would go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: No lift so try for first floor

I have planed to Siem Reap and stayed 3 nights on 25 March 2013 and i explored a accommodation hotel with My Managers. After choice, i have chosen a Frangipani Hotel II. Very wonderful hotel when i arrived, good floor, good service, good staff and breakfast too much in the morning. But unfortunately, when i go to my room (133) it was so dark just has one light on roof and very difficult to read a book. No free water but it has a big water in mini bar but they charge. On time i went to bath and i looked for shower cap, bud, comb and toothbrush but not thing, I called to reception and she said that save cost and Environment. Good reason but i don't want like this. i think this hotel like guesthouse charges too much for the quality of the rooms.

Good hotel for the price and location. They gave us a pool view room for the first day as temporary upgrade since our reserved room was not available/ Moved us next day to the non-pool side room, which was OK. The rooms were good size. The AC worked well and the service was good. The breakfast - included with the room rate - was out of this world. The breakfast buffet had freshly made eggs of any style, precooked boiled eggs, hams, bacon, sausages, potatoes. grilled tomatoes, pancakes, variety of fresh tropical fruits, noodles, korean style breakfast with kimchi and trimmings. etc, japanese style breakfast with rice and trimmings etc. juices coffee and tea. With a breakfast like that you could skip the lunch and not interrupt your tour of Angkor Wat till the evening !!!

The room was clean, comfortable and overlook to pool view. Pool is a plus after coming back from the sightseeing at Angkor Wat. Breakfast has many choices ranging from asian to western. Great staff and great location. I will return to stay at this hotels

The room we got has no pool view - which we didn't really care. The hotel building has a old charm but not really renovated fully. On the wall you can still see some new and old painging marks. The room is enough space for two of us and our suitcases. Bed is a bit hard but OK for me. The bathroom is just simple but OK clean. In general, the room itself is nothing really special but nothing really wrong, except the lighting a bit too little so it was not easy to read in the room in the night.
Outside the room, the pool is nice for the hot weather, but the seats around the ppol with shadow are usually occupied quickly since morning. You need to be there earlier to get a good place (or have really good luck).
The breakfast is rather OK and for the lunch/dinner menu I can recommand their green mango salad. After eating it you will become a garlic monster but it's definitely worthy.
The location is good too - not too much in the town so it gets too noisy, but not too far away from the town so it's still easy to get food/cafe/shops there. And there are several mini-supermarkets just nearby, so it's convinent to get some small supply if needed.
The only thing you may need to watch out is the breakfast serving time. If I remember correctly, the breakfast serves from 6.30am. If you have some booked tour or activities earlier than that and need them to make a breakfast box for you to take away, what we experenced and saw from other people is that: when you ask them (the hotel reception) about the breakfast box for the next morning before 6.30am, they would tell you OK no problem; but the next morning when your driver abd guide are already waiting outside for you and you are just waiting for the breakfast box to go, the breakfast boxes are not delivered as promised.... It's a bit annoying because one of us has diabetes and must have breakfast according to the plan. For us it will be much better if they just told us "Sorry we cannot make it so early" the evening before, then we would know to fix some food by ourself.
In average, I would say it's a normal 3-star hotel: clean, comfort and good location, but not that much extra to expect.

Make no mistake: this isn't a fancy boutique hotel. It might once have been quite a nice place but it's all a bit lackluster and definitely wants a nip and a tuck. Staff were very helpful and breakfast was quite OK. Still, it somehow reminded me of a youth hostel though this might sound a bit harsh. Still, you cannot complain for the price we paid, after - I must add this - insisting on the discount we had been promised by email. (The Frangipani Fine Arts in PP on the other hand, where we stayed for our last night in Cambodia, was worth every dollar if you like minimalist chic.)
