“Incredible Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2012

Look, at under $20 a night you're not expecting the Ritz so it goes without saying that the rooms are basic but the service we received was unmatched; do yourself a favour and spend an hour with the owner right at the start and try to learn as much as you can from here before setting out for the temples.

So, my 5 star rating is done relative to the price. If you want more comfort, you'd do better spendign a bit more and looking for somewhere with a pool. Other than that, the location is good, the rooms are clean and the bathrooms commically small. We had the room over-looking reception and it was a bit bright at night so would suggest asking for a room on a higher floor but other than that I had no complaints.

And if you get back from your day feeling very tired, ask them to call out for food and just eat it on the sundeck, i don't think a restaurant in town could match that view anyway.

Guesthouse is in a fairly good area, about a 10 minute walk to the Old Market. Alan was very helpful in setting us up with a tuktuk driver and gave us the order in which to see the temples. This made a huge difference as we met up with others the next day who saw the temples but in a different order and at each of the temples they encountered crowds whereas we felt like we were the only people at the temples when we went. We ended up booking a temple tour the next day for the big ones and did not book through Alan and regretted it. So...moral of the story - book through Alan, he knows his stuff. Rooms were clean, but our AC didn't work that great. We moved rooms and the AC was better. The road out front of the guesthouse was ripped up and so when we walked anywhere we ended up very dirty. All in all it was a good experience.

Nice rooms, sunset terrace, and all in all a great place! But what really makes this place one of the best places we've stayed during our 3-4 months in Southeast-Asia, is the staff, and especially the manager, Alan. He sat down with us and figured out what we should se, gave us a map and a route around the city (what to do/see), and the same for the temples. He also got hold of a good guide and a tuktuk-driver for our day at Angkor wat, and when we left 5 am we were given take-away breakfast!

I originally booked four nights at this guesthouse, but moved to a different to hotel because of the following reasons:
1. Small bathroom
2. No double blinds to keep the sun out
3. Construction noise next door (Looks like they're almost done though)

However, I liked the people who work there, so I used their tuk tuk service and booked bus tickets to Phnom Penh through them, even after I checked out of the guesthouse. The tuk tuk driver, Mr. Sokhoeun, was professional and friendly, and I highly recommend him. The staff members are very responsive and helpful.

If you are looking for a clean guesthouse with good size rooms and with attentive staff, this guesthouse is for you.

Booked the guesthouse because of the excellent reviews received. Most of the reviews concentrate on the service and helpfulness of the staff, which are all true. Alan and all the staff will go out of their way to help and advise on all the local sights and attractions.
The guesthouse itself though is very basic, clean, and functional, but lacks any charm or sense of location. I would not recommend this to travelers who like their creature comforts. However, for someone traveling on a budget and needing a clean place to stay while exploring the area it is fine.

Many thanks to ALLAN & THE GANG & Bob our driver at the Cashew Nut. Allan organised our itinerary in Siem Reap & also gave invaluable advise for our travels to Vietnam. The cashew Nut is great value for money, close to town centre & amenities are clean & comfortable. The perfect base for a Cambodian experience.

We stayed four nights at The Cashew Nut and we really enjoyed it. The best thing about the guesthouse is its friendly staff. They are very helpful and friendly, they wait for you with cold towels when you arrive from the heat in Siem Reap. The staff can also give you a lot of information about things to do in and around Siem Reap, in a nice and friendly way. The manager was a tour guide at the temples of Angkor and provided us with some good tips to get more out of our visit to Angkor.
The rooms at this place are not too spacious, but good quality and cleaned every day. Breakfast is included and the staff is kind enough to pack this for you if you like to watch the sunrise at Angkor Wat.
The guesthouse is located a little walk out of the tourist area of Siem Reap, but staff will arrange a free tuktuk to pick you up from the busstation when you arrive.
We can really recommend this great place with the best staff ever!
