“One of the Best Meals of our 5 weeks in SE Asia”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

If you like food, eat here. that simple. There are 2 tasting menus to chose from. Secret: The whole table doesn't have to get the same one -- you can each chose your own. this is unheard of here in New York. But then again, so is $17 for a chefs tasting menu. ($24 for the more expensive option). The place is very tastefully done-- modern with Cambodian accents. The chef has cooked at some of the best places in town -- he';s French -- and his wife runs the front of the house. The food feels authentic but cosmopolitan at the same time. Good wine list. All in all, an experience that would cost at least $150 a person here in New York for a fraction of the price and double the taste!

we made a last minute booking in this restaurant thanks to the intervention of the Hotel Manager of the @Angkor Village Hotel and had a brilliant meal. Full marks to the lovely and professional couple who run this place....

“Below Average”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

We ate at Cuisine Wat Damnak on a four-day stay in Siem Reap on the advice of our hotel. We found the food to be disappointing in almost every respect. An amuse-bouche of smoked fish and pork amounted to little more than a few leaves of what appeared to be bibb lettuce (not a local Cambodian product, I suspect) with smoked protein scattered on top. A pork dish was both so gamey and chewy as to be completely inedible. And fish sauce was used with a heavy hand on every course, which made the meal almost unbearably salty. Finally, a meringue dessert was rock hard and peculiarly seasoned.

Any restaurant can have an off night (particularly in August when personnel may be away on holiday), and perhaps we just visited Cuisine Wat Damnak at the wrong time. In the end, however, this was our most disappointing meal not only in Siem Reap, but also during our entire two-week trip throughout southeast Asia.

“Gourmet experience in Siem Reap”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

Fantastic foodie experience for the price of a mediocre cafe meal in Australia. They only have degustation menus - 2 options. Both sounding delicious we opted for both and tried it all. I tried frog! and it's true - it tastes like chicken. Lovely meal.

“Cambodian cuisine”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

Come and try fine Cambodian cuisine, dishes are really well-prepared and full of flavor. Specially the snakes and frogs Even though these are not the only options the set menu will not give you much flexibility.
