“Sour”
Reviewed February 15, 2012

Well, we read the glowing reviews and were eager for a fresh and exciting dive into the tasting menus (we sampled both on offer). And while the food was certainly exciting on the menu, it didn't fare nearly as well on the tastebuds. Nearly every tasting dish felt as though it had been thought out on paper, but never sampled by those cooking it. An amuse-bouche of rubbery corn and friends, followed by a parade of small dishes which ranged from unpleasantly sour to seriously inedible (chicken soup in preserved lime). Followed by dessert-- a sour chocolate mouse from one menu and a sour sorbet atop fruit salad on the other. Followed by a gracious additional dessert-- sour fruit to be dipped in salt and chile. And let's not forget the sour candied fruit with the check. Sour, sour, sour. In defense of the restaurant, the service, food preparation and presentation were done with care (the fish and quail, for example, were perfectly cooked), but they were completely overpowered by the sour sauces and vegetables which accompanied them. Perhaps our palettes aren't adventurous enough, but maybe-- just maybe-- both tasting menus were ill-conceived and quite difficult to enjoy. Oh well, we wanted to like it...

“Great ambience”
Reviewed February 13, 2012

I have to admit that I was expecting more. The resonance in the aircon room makes every single conversation audible. I can actually hear what my neighbour is talking about. Maybe I should have sat outside. Staff is very attentive and food is simply awesome.

“Simply lovely”

Well worth it, if you're prepared to be a little adventurous with your food. Frog was on the menu and it was amazing! We emailed a few days ahead to get a reservation. Great value for $US 24!

“A Perfect Evening”
Reviewed February 7, 2012

Wonderful all around restaurant. The tasting menu concept really works, with each dish timed accurately, as well as presentation worthy of a snapshot or two. I also applaud the restaurant for having a very reasonably priced wine list. The choices were thoughtful and priced accordingly.

We dined last night and could not reserve a table indoors (they fill up quickly). We are now glad that we didn't. I highly recommend an outside table. I felt there was more energy outside, as well as being able to take in the wonderful tropical temps. Also, it makes for a better evening of romance.

We had the tasting menu of beef salad, minced pork, Sanday fish soup, and the quail, langoustine and pineapple curry. All wonderful dishes and perfect portions.

Give it a try. You will not be disappointed. I wish we had a similar Khmer restaurant in NYC.
