One thing I miss the most bout Cambodia is definitely Pub Street which is undoubtedly the best place to hang out in Siem Reap from 6pm to 3am. I found the atmosphere on Pub Street to be so uniquely laid back and full of life that I made it a point to go there every night during my 3-week stay in Siem Reap. There was never a time where I felt unsafe (or anywhere else in Siem Reap for that matter). However, one thing that I was bothered by was this persistent little girl beggar (holding a sickly baby in her arms) who managed to fool me and my sister's fiance into spending $30 on powered milk at the convenience store (below X-Bar) one night. Later that same night we saw her pull the same trick to another group of poor unsuspecting tourists. We put two and two together and figured she was employed by the owner of that convenience store to trick tourists into spending money in his store. DON'T BE FOOLED AND DON'T BUY ANYTHING IN THAT STORE!
Some of my favorite places:
X-BAR - Great atmosphere and good place to mingle with other tourists and/or play a game of pool or foosball. Good music ranging from Alternative rock, House and Hip-Hop depending on the night. OPEN UNTIL SUNRISE (5AM). CHEAP BEER!
Temple Club - More like a pool bar than an actual club but a great place to meet other tourists from all over the world. Nice atmosphere. Good music. Hot dancefloor. LOVE IT! Oh, and CHEAP BEER!
Angkor What? - The place of choice for young backpackers wanting to mingle and dance the night away. Considering how small the place is, it can get crowded pretty quick.....and incredibly humid. Nice friendly atmosphere and good music. AND CHEAP BEER!
