Owner description: Some may find it over-powering, but if you're looking for where everybody is, then Pub Street it is. Lined with restaurants and bars selling cheap beer and reasonable food. Later on, the music starts thumping and there's often almost a party atmosphere. People watching is free.

Near the old market of Siem Reap. A place to enjoy the night drinking beers and relaxing. A lot of people starts filling the street after dinner, normally at 9pm. Along the way here are lots of massage place to soot the tired legs for walking around the Angkor Complex. Much the same as other drinking place, with lots of friendly people.

After all the reviews about the "Pub Street" here, allow me to clarify a few things:-

1) It is definately safe. I was here 7 nights in a row as my Hotel is nearby. No beggars or rowdy tourists (except may Angkor Wat and Temple Club after 12am when they get drunk from the 50 / 75 cents beer). More of a dining and touristry area.

2) Most restaurants are in Pub Street or around it. Most dining establishments here are quite good. My personal favourite would be Viva (Mexican) & Papier Le tigre (Italian & Pizza). The best Amok fish/ chicken (local delicacy) for me would we the one from Viva (surprise..surprise). And trust me, I tried the AMOK fish at almost all the restaurants in the vicinity of Pub Street i.e.Khmer Kitchen, Blue Pumpkin, Le Papier Le Tigre, etc.....

3) Don't buy any souvenirs here.... check out the Old Market in the day or the Noon Night Market where it is cheaper. Remember to bargain... you should only pay approximately 40-50% of the general amount quoted to you for any items.

As much as the temples are tourist attractions, so is Pubstreet. You don't have to eat in one of the many restaurants, but at least you should have strolled through it. :-)

This is the area you need to go to in the evening. Plenty of restaurants and bars serving all sorts of cuisines.
Try some of the smaller streets that run parallel for somewhere a little quieter.
