“Awesome food, great service, excellent cause and value for money!”
Reviewed October 8, 2013 via mobile

We really hit the jackpot when we dined at the Green Star! Excellent food and wonderful hospitality by Doug made for a wonderful dining experience. The prawn with green mango salad was our favourite; the prawns were light and crispy and the tangy salad really offset the flavours so well. The sliced beef fillet with pepper and fried rice were equally delicious. Our son is a very fussy eater and Doug and Avee made a special effort to accommodate his needs by organising a dish for him of fries and chicken. The restaurant itself is not air conditioned or done up fancy but the fans keep the mosses away and the table arrangements ere very comfortable. Overall, if you want an authentic Khmer dining experience with great ambience and good service then you must try Green Star. We walked away full, satisfied, happy and impressed with paying less than USD30 for an entree, 4 drinks, 4 mains and 5 donated "plate for a Gecko kid"! Thanks Doug and Avee for a wonderful evening!

“Great Food and Even better Cause”
Reviewed October 8, 2013 via mobile

I just got back from having dinner at Green Star and the whole tuk tuk back to the hotel I could only think about writing my review! It's the best meal I've had in Cambodia! It is so fresh and tasty (and well-priced! mains are 3-5 dollars). We had the cashew chicken stir fry and a beef dish and I highly recommend them both! And the fact that money is raised for orphan children makes eating here that much better. The staff are gentle, friendly and very attentive. It's a very authentic cuisine experience!

“Great food, ambiance & cause”
Reviewed October 1, 2013 via mobile

It's a special feeling to thoroughly enjoy your dining experience while knowing it benefits others. A non-profit kitchen, Green Star helps support local orphans,
We found this restaurant very close to our boutique hotel with a large green star fashioned from Christmas lights on its front gate. As it was raining, we decided to have a meal and wait out the weather before walking to Pub St.
It is a small, simple place with local ambiance: nice, wooden tables with plastic chairs with a view to the small street. Both their specials, posted on a large erasable board, and menus are in English with prices for entrees between $3-5.
The staff spoke very adequate English, was prompt, friendly and delightful. We sampled from several items from the Khemer menu and all we very fresh, well-prepared & flavorful.
Just as our entrees were being served, the power to a large neighborhood grid went out. The staff made candle holders out of coasters and we had a lovely candle lit dinner while enjoying beverages long afterwards.
A good meal for a good cause made for a very, very special evening.

“More than just a great restaurant!”
Reviewed September 27, 2013 via mobile

Green Star is not just a restaurant, it is a great cause that also happens to serve great meals. There's no aircon and the chairs are plastic, but there's fantastic food and the hearts are made of gold. Be sure to order the Spicy Duck (which is delicious) and talk to owner Doug (which is enlightening).
