Excellent food, beautiful staff and supporting a really good cause. I visited Green Star many times and really enjoyed my meal every time. Highly recommend the corn, sliced beef, and pork and eggplant however you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Not fancy, just great staff and good food, bring good company and there is no better place for dinner!

Kelly, thank you so much for your comments. It seems we were a hit as far as you were concerned & I must say, your food choices were spot on, many of my own favourites in that list. Hope you make it back some time in the future. Take care, Doug & Avee

It is worthy to pay a visit to this restaurant just because of the purpose of their opperation. Don't expect to find something special. Just basic choices at very low prices.

We went for lunch and we were the only ones there, the food was OK, the service was good, but having visited in previous years we felt that it could do with a bit of a menu update.

Went to Green Star last night to check it out. Honestly, a previous review talking about its roadside atmosphere is part of why we went as we wanted something casual but tasty--that's exactly what we got. Never mind the plastic chairs, it's a wooden and sturdy table and the servers are very nice and attentive. We ordered the fried corn (chewy, a tiny bit sweet and delicious), morning glory (tasty, but a tiny bit oily), yellow chicken curry (ask for an extra pepper if its not hot enough to your liking), the hot pot with eel (if you're not willing to put up with the eel bones, don't get this, broth was excellent) and a side of steamed rice. The owner came and chatted with us for a while and told us the story if the food and the restaurant--nice PR and customer service. One of the servers was so proud of the food he took several minutes making sure we knew how fresh everything is, that it's straight from the market that morning.

We walked away comfortably full for less than US$12 and that included a 1.5l of water. Might go back for the frog!

It has been a year since I last visited the restaurant that ploughs all of its profits into the Green Gecko Project - an amazing home for former street children.
The food is delicious, with some speciality dishes to get you really interested. The prices are unbelievably low .... and the staff are friendly, efficient and very entertaining!
Go!
