After going through the museum on our last full day in Seam Reap, we wished we had come here first; we would have appreciated the Angkor temples more, and been more aware of what to focus our attentions at.

Unfortunately we went to this museum after we went to the temples. However it helps me to summerize all the seeings into one complete picture. It was my big surprise to know that most part of our country Vietnam had belonged to Cham nation.

There is an altar of Budha where you can pray and pick up a number in a cup of sticks, then you get one paper following the number you get. You can read your fortune inside.

Especially in the rainny day in Xiemriep, it would be a nice place to spend cause around the museum there is a restaurant, a bar with nice view.

Get one map at the booth tickets to the Temple, you will get 1 dollar discount from 12 dollars of the entrance fee.

The Angkor National Museum would be great to visit first before seeing the temples as it puts it all into perpective.
The kids enjoyed the museum and it was a great option when the rain started!
Highly recommend this activity

This is must to see. We went after we saw the temples but would definitely suggest that you go before you go to the temples as it gives you a great understanding of what you are about to see and how it fits into the history of the area.

I have never been to a less engaging museum in my life; exhibits are shown in a lacklustre way with no real insight into the artefacts; insights which a tour guide would easily give you when visiting temples and seeing the same relics in situ.

Our recommendation is: Go to the temples instead with a local tour guide and see the real stuff in situ, while getting a much deeper understanding (rather than paying a Thai private company USD 12 pp).

Best exhibit, no joke, was the bathroom facilities!
