The horizons at Seam Reap is simply wonderful! It is brand new, so new in fact that I was their very first guest on 30 September 2010 and had booked in on an opening special deal that was amazing value. This was a special experience to be the number one guest and that's just how they treated me.
All the staff made me feel so welcome that after 4 nights I did not really want to go and seriously considered wasting my next night's accommodation in Battambang that was already paid for so that I could stay a night longer at Horizons Cambodia.
The location of Horizons Cambodia is in a particularly pleasant part of town, central and near the river, Pub Street and its many restaurants and just around the corner from my favorite: Chili Di Sang.
It is a freshly renovated charming building with a nice uncluttered but chic decor in the spacious rooms and with all the mod cons you expect like a very comfortable king size bed but all done so that gives it a nice Asian feel to the decor. Breakfast served beautifully out on the front garden terrace was lovely.
As it's new they are still getting the fine detail down pat, but this is not what's important. It's the fantastic owners and staff. Rachel and Brenton are from Australia and have owned a successful hospitality business in Tasmania before opening up their Cambodian hotel. They have assembled a small team of unbelievably committed young staff who in their genuinely friendly and cheerful way can not do enough to solve without fuss any little problem or requests a guest has. It's the sort of place where as a guest you make the effort to learn and remember the staff names because of the happy and kind way they look after you.
One of the best things that happened was the local knwledge and contacts the staff have and used to quickly arrange my 3 day Angkor wat personal tour so that I wasted no valuable time. Take my tip don't spend a fortune buying a package overseas and be herded around in a group. Let these guys skillfully organize it for you with no fuss and provide you the best and most knowledgeable guide, (Mr Rith Roeum an english high school teacher) i have ever had in many trips overseas. So with an individual guide plus personal (English speaking and full of good cheer), hotel tuk tuk driver Mr Maly the three day tour cost a fraction of what it would be as part of a package tour bought before you leave home. I would normally only buy group tours because of the high cost of an individual one, but not here, it's so affordable!.
The staff and owners of Horizons Cambodia at Seam Reap will have you feeling like this is your home away from home. Seam Reap with its fantastic opportunity nearby to visit the Angkor Wat wonder of the world together with this wonderful hotel make for a very special Asian experience. The proof being before I left I have already booked my return stay in August 2012.
