we book a room at the retreat residence for our short trip to Siam Reap back in april and i must say we make the right choice. a wonderful little place with a nice mixture of the old building which houses the restaurant whilst the rooms are in the colonial building.. white with classic simple design that blends very well. Lovely bed that you will be thankful after a day out in the sun. Staffs are extremely thoughtful & helpful throughout our stay as we were only 2 girls travelling.
The retreat is situated on a quiet street off the main road so it is very peaceful yet close enough to the happening place of the night market & the pub street also not forgetting to adventures by foot or by the motor taxi. We love it there and had a wonderful relaxation by the rooftop pool after our trip to the temples.. just simply relaxing on the sunbed with snacks while watching the rain come down with a bottle of beer:- awesome!.

Room Tip: rooms in the colonial building is nice

Dancing around Agoda I found a great deal for this charming guest house. Perfect location, fantastic staff, pleasant rooms, and the roof to swimming pool offers welcome respite from wherever you have been dragging yourself.
Only downsides - ridiculous laundry prices (don't worry there is a cheap express laundry nearby) and the complete absence of a minibar (so also impossible to keep water chilled in the room).
Anyway, you will not be disappointed.

I stayed at this property last week for 3 nights (2 more nights at another resort but wish I had stayed here for the whole 5 nights :(

+
Super friendly and efficient staff who share a real enthusiasm for making your stay perfect. Great guest relations/helpful with info on local area/tours etc
Tasty/well prepared food and drinks which are very nicely presented. I only really ate breakfasts here as there was so much choice in town to eat out but I would love to sample lunch or dinner here next time
Superb location...just on the perimeter of being out of the town but also in on the action
Clean/large rooms and good housekeeping service/authentic decor
Allowed me to have a late check out as I was out on a tour from 5am-3pm. They let me keep my room on so that I did not have to check out at 5am
Lovely small pool area that is a welcome haven for cooling off after a long hot day of sightseeing
Felt super safe and secure despite my room backing on to a road/alley way

-
Uneven/slippery step leading in to the pool (I had to dig deep to find this one point needing improvement but it would be dangerous for some as it was slippery/uneven and easy to lose balance on)

I was really sad to leave this property and its lovely staff. I will be recommending to all my friends to stay her on future visits to SM. I will be back there like a shot

Give it a go! You will not be disappointed :)

Room Tip: Rooms are spacious. I got an upgrade to a larger room (Rm 5)

We stayed at Karavansara in July 2013 at the start of our honeymoon and had the most wonderful stay. We were very well looked after. The staff were always at hand to help when we requested anything, but otherwise went about their duties professionally and discreetly. Stayed for 4 nights and the hotel helped us book two trips to visit Angkor Wat on one day and Kbal Spean and Banteay Srei on another. The trips were very good value for money with excellent guides and drivers.
Our room, the swimmingly pools, the bar/ restaurant and the gardens were beautiful. The tuk tuk drivers spoke good English and were helpful. Location was great. 5 mins walk into town, but never noisy at the hotel. Very good value for money and we would definitely recommend the hotel to others.

I chose this hotel as i like smaller, unique type accommodations - and this place fits the bill perfectly. Sweet staff, interesting and beautifully renovated historic buildings, garden surrounds, comfy bedding, good hot shower. It is a peaceful location on the other side of the river, though just minutes walk from the action of pub street. Simple breakfast, cute little pool for cooling down. No hassle with the tuk tuk drivers out front. No fridge, but not really a problem. As it is now low season, i got an excellent deal - overall i believe my stay was fantastic value. Will definitely stay there when i return to Siem Reap and have already recommended to others.

I have just returned from 4 nights at Karavansara, and would definitely recommend it as a great place to stay in Siem Reap. Located close to all the action of Pub Street and the Night Market (if you want that!), but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. It is an oasis of calm, with lovely design, and helpful, courteous staff who did everything possible to make our stay as easy and comfortable as possible. The room was a good size, clean, with a good shower and good bed (firm, like most beds in SE Asia). The reception staff were able to book all of our trips and guides for us, which really made life easy. We also very much enjoyed the cocktails, especially the hotel staff's own creations which draw on local produce and cuisine. This was part of our honeymoon trip, and it is a very romantic place to stay; we felt very pampered.

Karavansara is one of those unique places you get to enjoy in Siem Reap. Location is simply perfect, whether you want to go and have a drink at Pub Street, visit the arts and crafts market at night or simply have a walk around the river you couldn't have landed on a better place. The rooms are very good, the pool is also nice if you're just wanting to relax a bit (and come downstairs afterwards for a massage!). The hotel restaurant is also good the setting is very calm and relaxing. Staff will take the best care of you possible, don't be afraid to ask them for help in whatever you might need.
