“Excellent staff and faultless service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2013

The Frangipani Villa Hotel in Siem Reap is an excellent choice for the place to stay in Siem Reap.

Above all, the warm, friendly, polite and knowledgeable staff do their very best to ensure the stay is comfortable and hospitable and are readily available to provide advice, recommendations and make inquiries and bookings should you require.

The hotel is conveniently located -- within walking distance to the night market in one direction and the museum in the other. The area has numerous restaurants varying from small local eating places to ones offering more international fare. There are numerous affordable laundry places and bike rentals around the area.

The rooms are clean, comfortable and adequately equipped. The surrounding gardens and swimming pool are well designed for winding down and relaxing. There is a traditional musician playing soft music in the lobby every evening adding to the ambience of the hotel.

Breakfasts are also good value -- with both Cambodian and international choices.

An excellent place to stay in Siem Reap. I cannot speak too highly of the staff -- each and every member of the hotel staff was exceptional and made Siem Reap a fantastic experience that makes me want to return.

I stayed at Frangipani for 17 nights while volunteering for an NGO. The room was clean and well kept, the bed was comfortable (some of the beds in Asia give me bruises!), the AC worked really well, and the selection of English channels on the television was a great bonus at the end of the day. The pool is pristine and surrounded by lush vegetation, and most importantly, shady in the afternoon when you need it most. The pool and restaurant are also the social hubs of the place, and I met many wonderful and interesting travelers to share outings and meals with. The breakfast buffet has a very good assortment of American, English, and Asian choices, and you can top up your water bottle at the water cooler ( a nice perk ).

The Wat Bo district is quieter than than the Old Market area, and goods and services like laundry and groceries will be cheaper here than downtown or Sivatha Blvd.

The staff made me feel like family and I could not pass by reception without talking to the lovely people behind the desk. They are very aware of the comings and goings of all guests, and one night the girl who plays the xylophone every evening was able to point silently to the outside terrace to let me know my friend was waiting for me out there. The tuk tuk drivers who work for Frangipani have all been vetted by the hotel, and look out for one another by taking turns when tourists want to go somewhere. The reception staff are very knowledgeable about the town and surrounding countryside, and give excellent and accurate advice. If you cannot find a tuk tuk and need to go somewhere, chances are they will find a way to take you themselves. This is the norm in Siem Reap and I hope it never changes.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff (housekeeping, restaurant etc.) and especially Mr. Phally, Mr. Sreng, Ms. Pisey, Ms. Rany, Ms. Lin, the two Mr. Visals, Mr. Chamnan, Mr. Ratana, Mr. Von, and Ms. Rem.

There are great deals to be had during low season and for just a few dollars more than the cost of a budget guest house, you can stay here.

Excellent value for money. 'From the instant of walking into the hotel area with its lovely gardens and atmosphere. The staff are extremely helpful and lovely with the room spotlessly clean and very romantic. Breakfast was the usual Asian buffet breakfast but well presented and fresh. Lovely clean pool and within walking distance of very nice restaurants. Having stayed here one would have expected a higher room rate. If going to Siem Riep STAY HERE.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 121 - apparently told the best room in the hotel

We spent there 2 days and all was just perfect.
Service, food, room, facilities and overall the staff.
It sounded like a 5 stars hotel to us.
Whenever you stop in Siem Reap, I suggest you to come here.
It might be worth it also a visit to the SPA next by (didnt have time for that).

We stayed in Siem Reap for a long weekend in order to visit Angkor Wat and booked Frangipani Villa hotel for the period. Although we were in the low season (April/May being notoriously hot) the hotel seemed fairly occupied. Everything was arranged smoothly and the communication with the hotel was fast and effortless (we mailed the night before our departure about possible airport pickup and this was directly answered upon and agreed - $12 with a car. For a reference a tuk tuk ride for the same costs $6 and takes about 20 minutes).

The reception in the hotel was lovely and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Cambodia is fast catching up on the tourist sector and the people are really making their effort, even when they don't always speak all that good English. Even the street sellers don't act upset when you indicate you are not interested in what they are selling - this is a stark contrast to some of the other countries in the region.

The hotel itself seemed a bit smaller than what the photos on the website suggested but all in all the description answered well the picture given. We had booked a room with a balcony for a small extra charge but were slightly disappointed to find out that the room was facing the road and not the (quieter) pool in the back. Luckily we were offered to change and paid $10 extra to have a larger (believe 3 peoples?) room at the back with the balcony. Both the rooms were clean and nice although the balcony area on the one facing the road did not really invite for sitting outside.

The pool area was lovely and has sun until about 3PM. The restaurant connected to the pool is nice and the food (mixture of western and local) was excellent albeit somewhat pricey compared to the general price level (a fruit juice around $3, average meal price 5 to $10). Non hotel guests were also using the pool by coming over for lunch, however at no point was the pool area crowded (I think there is altogether about 12 sun loungers).

The breakfast was good, served between 6:30 to 10AM and in case you wanted to leave earlier to the temples (many people leave around 5AM to try to catch the sunrise) you could organise a picnic breakfast basket with the reception (2 slices of bread, butter, jam, banana bread and a juice). The normal breakfast included fruits, yogurt, cereal, muesli, few Asian options such as noodles, the usual egg station, baked beans, hash browns etc and break/ coffee breads.

We used the spa once, they were OK, I paid $18 for a aromatherapy massage. The old market and pub street were a short tuk tuk drive away ($1; you could have walked the trip but we just weren't bothered :)

All in all we had a really nice stay at the hotel and would definitely recommend the place!

Room Tip: If you want a room with balcony make sure it's on the back side facing the pool. Otherwise just...

I had a fantastic stay at frangipani in Siem Reap. The staff is exemplary. I can't say enough nice things about them as they go beyond normal to give each guest personal attention and a great experience. The spa was divine! The food and room were an incredible bargain. The advice on where to go, what to do and see, and how were perfect. I couldn't have had a better time. I was treated like a queen by all the staff, but Pisey and Borany stand out. I'll def be back and you should try it!

Room Tip: I'm not sure my room 105 did not have a view, other rooms do
