Golden Banana Boutique Hotel

I stayed at this place for 3 nights and its a bargain. Stayed in a lovely room with all the utilities you can expect from a 5 star room for a very reasonable price tag. Breakfast is included to room rate. I think if hotel can change their breakfast menu daily, that would be great. Because after couple of days I was bit fed up with same menu. Anyway its not a that big deal. Staff are very professional and well experience with customer care. Special regards goes to reception guys who were been really friendly and informative. salt water pool is fantastic. Pub street, night market, city center are about 5 min walk away. What I can ask for more????? If you are planing to go to see ruins don't forget to hire a tuk tuk and tour guide from hotel. As its much cheaper than finding a guide from out side. There was a Tuk Tuk guy out side the hotel call "Sa", who speak very fluent English. He was really helpful to move around the Siem Reap. Thank you, Golden Banana.....

Room Tip: Rooms above the swimming pool. (First floor)

After a crazy journey through poipet we arrived at the golden banana. Truly exceptional service. We ha called earlier in the day for reservations and they couldn't find them (we think it was our mistake as we think we called the resort and not the BB--they are all right on the same corner) but they didn't skip a beat and got us right to our rooms. They took us to see a few rooms so we could choose. They brought us welcome drinks within 15 minutes and it set the tone for the whole stay. We paid less than 35 dollars for each of our two rooms. There were a few issues with our room--clogging and such, but they took care of it immediately and apologized. The food was good an the breakfast included was solid. Drinks were cheap. The hotel arranged our day guide to angkor who was sweet, nice, and gay friendly. They also arranged for niceassages in room and our travel back to poipet--in much better accomodations than the car we arrived in. We honestly were sad to leave. We all would go back in a heart beat. In fact we just arrived at our hotel in krabi and just keep saying "it's no golden banana." if you're looking for charm, nice people, and good service, stay here.

I recently stayed at the Golden Banana while working in Siem Reap for a month - I loved it! The location is perfect - only a few minutes’ walk away from the centre of town but far enough away that it’s a peaceful retreat. After staying in a superior room for the first week, I moved into the B&B as I realised I didn’t need all of that space to myself. The superior room was beautiful, with a high ceiling, and a gorgeous balcony overlooking the pool. The B&B room was also great, and really reasonably priced. I felt so welcome from the moment I arrived, and the lovely staff did everything they could throughout my stay to make it as comfortable as possible. Great pools, delicious food and fab cocktails! The Golden Banana is wonderful - I can't recommend it highly enough!

We loved our room at the Golden Banana!! We had a superior double ($35/ night). It has a beautiful belcony, fridge, tv, closet, safe, desk, lots of room, and an awsome bathroom (shower separate from toilet unlike most Cambodian hotels). The decor is lovely, and bed comfortable. Breakfast is included and consists of coffee/tea, fruit bowl, juice, and eggs/bread. It is close to the town centre, we never took a tuk tuk in or out. The hotel organizes tuk tuks to go to the temples- we think it is a reasonable price (our driver was very reliable and friendly). I love this place. Hope this review helps.

As many others have noted, the property is really 3 or 4 separate properties clustered around a small side street. I had chosen the Superior B&B (single), which meant a room above the pool with a small balcony. The room is fairly basic, small TV, A/C, desk etc. The bathroom is a bit patchy in terms of hot water, but for the price, it's clean and relatively new. The pool was lovely, and the food was also great quality and value. The hotel is really only a 5 min walk to the centre or markets, meaning no need for a tuk tuk of an evening.

What makes this a great hotel is the service - from arranging a good value pickup from the bus to arranging for a drive to see the temples, they are very helpful in tailoring this to your need. The drivers were great, and very friendly, and reasonably priced. You might pay a few extra dollars, but you are guaranteed to have someone you can rely on, and who knows their way around.

Room Tip: Ask when you arrive to see the options if you are not sure. Very hard to tell online!

My partner and I spent 5 nights here and after a couple of room changes, due to 4 flights of very steep steps we found the room that suited us perfectly. Right near the pool and breakfast area. The GB B & B is located in a quieter part of town on the other side of the river and the walk into town is only about 5 minutes, which we enjoyed as we were able to take in the sights, sounds and smells of Siem Reap.

All of the staff were more than helpful. They all went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortable and helped organize a tour for us. The staff should all be commended for their english skills as they all spoke it very very well.

The rooms are basic yet with a distinct Khmer style. It was exactly what we needed after touring the amazing and humbling Angkor National Park. Yes the steps were steep to our room but it was only one flight.

The saltwater pool was perfect place to cool the body down. If only more hotels used saltwater instead of chlorine.

The only gripe that I have is that the GB allow people who are not guests to come and use the pool for a fee. We had to endure 3 afternoons of two young British girls speaking very loudly and using language that was unnecessary. I understand that this would help the GB earn more cash in the low season but I think they should have stepped in and asked these young 'ladies' to tone it down a touch as it was ruining our wind down time.

I would definitely stay here again if we get back to Siem Reap.

I spend here a week. The salt water pool is a most try in town. The rooms are clean and comfortable and provide a good sleep. Due that the hotel road is an small alley you feel in a small town. The rate include the breakfast and the prices in the menu are similar to those in the rest of Siam Reap.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Be advice that the tuck-tuck drivers try to take you to other hotels, but try to reach this place you will be positive surprised.
