Get to know the history and health issues of the Khmer people by attending this free cello performance @ Kantha Bupha Pediatrician Training Centre. The doctor that performs is really inspiring and passionate about helping the Khmer people, building hospitals and treating tuberculosis. Set at a nice venue, you will feel like you are away from Siem Reap for a moment.

Would highly recommend a visit on performance nights and do contribute in cash upon leaving to support the cause. Your overall visit to Siem Reap will be that more rich with this concert added to your itinerary.

Dr Beats is more than inspiring. Has given these concerts for years to raise money for his children's hospitals. As he said during the concert everyone in Cambodia knows that his hospitals provide totally free expert medical care and have saved thousands of lives. Not only treating tuberculosis, dengue fever, open heart surgery but also give travel money to the poor families in order that ongoing treatment can be administered. The world would be a better place with more Dr Beats!!!

The concert was about 1/4 music, 1/2 movie (on health conditions in Cambodia, with a strong fundraising orientation) and 1/4 a pitch for funds by Dr. Beat. The movie was informative, but too long, and the pitch was overdone. We probably would have donated more if the concert had been more concert and less talking.

My goodness what an inspiration Dr Beat Richer is. If you are in Cambodia you must go and see this man. It is unimaginable what the situation could have been here without this hardworking, dedicated person that appears to be able to move mountains but still has many more to move.

Those of you that enjoy a live music performance, go, be prepared to be moved....not from your comfortable theatre seat BUT emotionally.

I knew that kids in Cambodia are at real risk from TB, Dengue Fever and Japanese Encephalitis, but whilst there I saw no evidence of it. These enormous health issues are hidden from view and tourists could easily not realize how horrendous the situation is. By going to this concert you get to listen to Dr Beat Richer who has set up many children's hospitals in Cambodia and ensures they are free. Healthcare is not government funded and most of the population survive on less than $1 per day, there is no money for healthcare. This amazing man fund raises $40m a year to keep the hospitals going. His weekly concert is free and beautiful to listen to. The movie he shows is eye opening, and his oratory is entertaining even if about such desperation. Go to this, then make a big donation when you get home rather than giving to beggars in the street. My kids, aged 6,11 and 13 sat transfixed throughout this, and they finally may appreciate how lucky they are.
