Recline on futons or sit at a table on the large shady patio sipping drinks, snacking and using their free internet access. They have a menu too, but we just whiled away the afternoon there. Easy walk from downtown. There are supposed to be opportunities for tourists to speak English with locals on Sunday afternoons (from 3-4?) which we were told was a lot of fun - but for some reason it didn’t happen while we were there.

We really liked our meal at Peace Cafe. Really good vegetarian food and drinks - Peanut Butter Yum Yum, oh my! Do beware of mosquito though as the tables are outdoor and surrounded by lush vegetation. It also gets quite dark for some of the outer tables (we had a big group so we had no choice but to take these) - we couldn't see what we were eating for most of the meal.

Staff was very nice. Had really good veggie options. Be sure to bring your bug spray if eating in the evening.

This place is charming. The garden setting with seats and cushions under the trees and the tables in the garden are nice. I came here over 5 times (mainly for the yoga and juice) and was greeted to a calm space each time. I would walk or tuk tuk over the river from the Old Market and would be greeted by smiling faces and a quiet space. There are books (Angkor temples, travel, etc.), magazines, brochures that you can read or you can stop in the fair-trade store. I enjoyed the yoga (either am or pm, David or Prasad) and felt calm after each class. The vegetarian fare is fabulous - I had the stir fry of snap peas and shiitake mushrooms. Yum. I'm not sure what a previous review means by "unauthentic" and being reminded of the US since a lot of the places in Old Market are cafes and nightclubs and mainly tailored to tourists and ex-pats. There are a variety of fares: Indian, local Khmer, Mexican, Japanese, Western, Italian, etc. This place had a lot of charm!

Across the river from the old market, this place is great if you want a quiet, tasty dinner and to avoid the pub street crowd. The food was great and on par price-wise with most other restaurants ($3-4 mains, $1-2 drinks). It took a while to prepare the food, but they have comfy chairs in a garden setting, so not too much of an issue. And it was all fresh! Make sure to wear bug spray, as the mosquitoes were out in force. Also, make sure you bring a map with the location marked (it's not well sign posted and down a dark street. We missed it on the first walk by and the locals we asked for directions had never heard of it).
