Was left a little disappointed after visiting the butterfly center. It was a nice divergence from trekking round the temples, but is really not the place to visit during the dry season as there are limited butterfly varieties to see - there's no fooling nature. My young kids still enjoyed it so that was a plus. Probably is a lot better when the more exotic butterfly species are in season.

We had a guide who showed us around and introduced us to the "friendly" black scorpions in the back. That got the kids hearts beating a little faster!!!!

Apart from the beautiful butterflies, especially the worms and cocoons were so fascinating. You shouldn't miss this opportunity to stop at the ABC on your way to bantey Srei. You will not regret it.

We were trying to do a couple of temple tours on a fairly hot day with lots of tourists today, and our kids weren't buying into it. Our tour guide recommened rearranging our plan and stopping at the Butterfly Centre on the way to lunch. Thank goodness we did. The kids (12, 9, and 2) forgot all about the heat and crowds at the temple and were completely engaged in learning about the whole process from caterpillar to butterfly. We even got to see a butterfly emerge from its cocoon while we were there. The guide was a very nice, well-spoken, knowlegeable young man who was very enthusiastic and patient. Not only are there butterflies and moths, but they have scorpions and some really cool, large stick bugs. Very hands on place that I would recommend as a change of pace and scenery for the kids. It's not very big, but it's enough to spend around 30 mins or a bit more easily....we were the only ones there when we went so got lots of personal attention. The cost was $12 for our family of 5 (2 year old free).

After stopping off at the Landmine Museum which is just up the road, this makes for a nice stop lighten the mood and admire nature. The staff are very friendly and they take you for a short tour of the butterfly enclosure, before letting you wander at your leisure. Very peaceful and the gardens are well kept.
