“Great Food”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

Had a great meal at Amok Restaurant, the food was amazing. We had the tasting plate for 2 and it was a great introduction to authentic Khmer cuisine. The service was very good and location was fantastic in the little alley ways off Pub street.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

We were shopping around the old market area and dropped by for lunch since we thought the decor looked inviting and it proclaimed itself to be the best in amok curry.

We were pretty disappointed that the food did not match up to expectations. The red curry served looked more like green curry. The amok degustation was also not up to standard. All in all, a pretty disappointing outing.

“Satisfying.”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

After walking up and down the alley ways, we settled here because it looked most appealing, based on the decor + number of customers..and we were feeling some Khmer cuisine too.
Anyhow, we sat right down and service was fairly prompt. Prices were a little hefty considering the region (but others with a different budget may argue they're reasonable). We were starving so everything on the menu looked good. I finally decided on the amok trio, and my friend ordered some vegetarian spring rolls and a mango salad. The food was good but I felt some of the dishes were too ambitious because I've had authentic, homemade Khmer food before and some of the ingredients were not necessary or excessive. Back to the service: we were missing a thing or two (I forget what it was exactly..maybe a drink) and we had to ask a couple of times for it. Overall, it was a satisfying experience although it could've been better.

“Luke warm and bland”
Reviewed May 19, 2013 via mobile

Went here for lunch as like a previous reviewer, was told the Amok here was the best in Siem reap. Service was ok and food didn't take long however we were the only ones there. The fish amok arrived and it was watery, bland and luke warm. Rice was cold. The fish itself seemed to be mushy and not very fresh. I took a few bites and didn't finish it which is rare for me as I am not a picky eater! My friend ordered a curry which she also said was bland and boring. Gorgeous decor and location is awesome, but maybe just stick to a few beers at this one.

“Inconsistent and cannot even properly warm up the leftover rice it serves”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

I had dinner there one evening and enjoyed the Chicken Amok from the Amok sampling dish. In spire of a slow service i decided to return there for lunch a few days later.

Again i was the only customer and the service was still slow. Before being served i saw some staff run off to another restaurant and bring back some cooked rice to their kitchen... A few minutes later my lunch was served.

The Amok chicken dish was nowhere close in taste and flavor to the one i had had a few nights before and the stale rice I was given was cold. The waitress and manager were helpless and totally useless went i brought this up to their attention.

For a restaurant who bills itself as "the best Amok" in Siem Reap and with hefty prices for Cambodia, one would expect they could serve their customer something better that left over rice and produce consistent dishes.

Certainly not the best Amok and not even close!
